A BIG hi there and hello!
03 Jan 2014, 17:58
Good evening everyone. this is my first post as I have decided to give the 5:2 another go. I attempted it in Sept 13 and was doing great and was really quite impressed with the results and how (relatively) easy it was! but alas a family berevement placed my energies elsewhere. But here goes, am attempting it again for a second time and in light of the fact that I am due to complete my BSc(HONS)degree later this year (after 4 years of study Phew  ) I am all in for a new start to life and an all improved me! (hence the username).
After looking through some posts everyone seems very friendly and supportive and this maybe just what I need to try and sustain the 5:2 for life.
So hello everyone hope to have many chats with many of you over the coming years. :?: My first question though...what is a half fast??

Hi and welcome.
I think you may mean 16/8 - 16 hours without food and an 8 hour eating window. In effect, eating midday till 8pm and nothing the rest of the time.
We're a friendly bunch and some people are very knowledgeable (not me) and post very erudite things.
Jump in and take part and good luck.

Oh I see thanks for enlightening me PennyForthem. I started fasting today and consumed all my calories between 12 midday and 5 oclock so i'm not sure how well I will do this evening. Currently sipping on peppermint tea (didn't think I liked herbal teas until I tried this one) and working on assignments so fingers crossed I can make it to bed time. It seems the 5:2 is working well for you.

Or some people fast all day (no cals) and then eat normally in the evening fire a half fast. Useful on a day when you're going out for a big dinner/social occasion!

Oh right that would be useful, I'm sure I shall get my head around all this eventually. Thanks for the reply.
