Fasting today... Jan 25, 2016
25 Jan 2016, 08:20
After an unexpected and unwelcome 7 month break, I am back. I am also back to where I was when I started my fast journey in November 2014. Disappointing, but I'm ready to try and get back on track again now that my health is in better shape.

After a collapse, emergency surgery, months of recuperation, medication with unwanted side effects.... I'm finally ready to try and get back into it again. I was disheartened but resigned to the fact that I'd regained all of the weight I'd worked so hard to lose... but I suppose it makes sense. It took me 7 months to lose 11 kg and now it's taken me 7 months to regain it again.

I was so down about everything that I didn't even check this Web site because I knew it would be hard for me.

While I know some of my body issues are related to my recovery, I also know that some of my digestive and energy issues are around weight gain and not having the benefit of the fast cycle. So here's to a hopefully good first day back and to things go as well as they did last year. I know no one will remember or know me, but I remember that this forum was helpful to me last year and I'm hopeful it will do the same again this year.

Ladan
Welcome back *waves* and glad your health is mending.
Weight comes and goes and comes and you can bring it down again with steady fasting, maybe gently to start with after such a torrid time.
Try 6:1 for a month then up it to 5:2 if you're feeling ok with it.
Good luck honey :like: :clover:
Well, @LadanTrying, I for one remember you from your previous visits here - and I remember how pleased you were with the weight that you lost then. I am sorry that you have had such a horrible time of it but very pleased that you are now able to come back to us and tackle your regain. As you say, you have done it before, you know that it works and I can see no reason that you won't do it just as well this time around! :victory:
Welcome back and 'Onwards and downwards!'

Edit: I posted this and then realised that I should have added that I am fasting today. Duh! There aren't many of us here yet but perhaps more will check in later!
Welcome back ! If I can give you an advice, do it at your own pace. 16/8, 06:02, whatever makes you feel good. It shouldn't be a chore or a burden, or you won't keep motivated. Believe me, those fasts can be a true relief after a big stressful period, it can give a sense of letting go of things, which is really comforting.

Hello everyone I am not really fasting but kind of  I plan to have a nice radish top soup with a grilled

Good luck :clover:
Making a real hard effort today. No weight off this year, a bit of a small yoyo each week. Then I read the side effects of the latest medication (never read them for a few days so I can't imagine them) - weight GAIN. Of course it's a steroid so should have guessed. My resolve now is to MAINTAIN even though goal weight has not been reached. I can live with not losing more but not putting it back on. On non-fast days I will work on the 16:8 timing for food to see if that helps.
Any other suggestions welcome.
I'm in as usual for a Monday. Small gain for me this week but we have been away for the weekend with much eating out and rather a lot of alcohol  On the bright side another small drop in % fat. I'm planning a butter bean and chorizo stew with added prawns for tonight. Before then some ukulele practice - can't eat and strum at the same time!
Welcome back @LadanTrying! I'm new to this site, so I won't remember you from before. But I've certainly lost weight and found myself having found it again  Good luck with your journey!

I'm fasting today. Gained weight this past week, so trying to get back on track with some healthier choices. Happy fasting all!
I'm in today for my usual Monday light day. Just had my coffee, green tea up next, usual pattern. Last night I found out why calendula cream makes me itch! I've had eczema my whole life, sometimes better, sometime worse. Well, last night I made a DIY paper facial mask (I don't trust the premade ones, they put too much suspect stuff in--ironic, eh?), with the base as fresh calendula tea (I had used all the other components before without a problem). Had a violent allergic reaction, face bright red and itched abominably! So despite my usual distaste for drugs, took some benadryl (it was bedtime anyway), and that seems to have worked, I don't have sandpaper face this morning. Good thing, 'cause I have to work in Olympia tomorrow and would hate to go looking horrible. I love natural remedies, but it just goes to show that NOTHING is completely "safe" (free from bad reactions). I read that if you are allergic to ragweed, calendula can be problematic, but I've never been diagnosed with a ragweed allergy.
My fifth fast in this new take and thing it went fairly well since I checked the kcal on the small snack I had when son had his lunch and did HB Mexican Chicken Soup (a favorite among the men) for dinner but not a too large portion. As I said before, this time I refuse to stand on the scale since I will feel too embarrassed by the weight gain. So I measure the hips and how much flab that is still over the waistline on my jeans. The first two weeks I lost 3ck over the hips, hopefully some more cm durin gate week.
For now a bit hungry so I go to bed, nothing to eat there LOL
Welcome back @Ladantrying! I'm sorry you had such a health scare, but I'm glad to see you back.

I'm in today as well - had a rough week last week with a trip to NYC and a school holiday that got me off track and seriously overeating. This week will be difficult as well, since it's an exams week, and Aidan only has mornings at school. So I'm glad at least that today is going well. I even got all of my steps in and it's only 4pm/16h
Hi Ladan, glad your health is getting sorted and you are back! :victory: I think it is wonderful that you didn't gain back more than you lost in the first place as many people do! Well, we are all definitely doing this in the real world and never know what will get thrown our way. But we are resilient and we CAN do this! I'm fasting today--slow start as I was super tired and went back to sleep after sending my husband off with his buddy (prospecting for gold in the hills on the other side of the Colorado River). So I ate some apple slices, a bit of brie and (sad, but true) a small piece of a delicious homemade oatmeal cookie. Propinquity...a dieter's downfall. But, it was only a fragment! As long as I don't follow it up with more fragments, I should be okay. Mmm, Radish Top Soup sounds really tasty! I have some radishes (and tops) in the fridge. Maybe I'll have that for supper. Have a great day everyone! :clover:
Hi @LadanTrying hey lovely, how could we ever forget you! :victory: I'm sorry to hear you have been unwell and I'm delighted you are back with us x
Late in signing up to our fast today. ..... miso soup, egg, raw spinach, 2ins sq! of smoked salmon. Small steak medallion, shredded cabbage, sprout, leek and mushroom. 1 litre of fizzy water
Happy fasting to all out west. :clover:
Take it easy LT and welcome back  x
Thank you for the very kind posts and encouraging messages. It's just what I needed. :) Yesterday went pretty well for the 'first day', mostly just a headache in the evening (sugar withdrawal, I imagine!). Looking forward to Thursday... might try 6:1 at first, too, but I think I'll see how 5:2 goes to start and shift downwards if need be.

Glad to be remembered and hoping to get to know some new folks as well. You're a lovely, encouraging community. xox
