Hello,
It's morning in Finland and I'm on my first fast day. I've been on a VLCD diet for a couple of weeks with a diet of 800 - 100 kcals a day. Yesterday I ate normally, don't know how many calories but I guess it could have been around 1 500, and today I'm going to eat 500. I don't feel hungry yet so I'm going to try to keep up until lunch. Usually when I'm on a low calorie diet I need small meals 4 - 5 times a day to not feel hungry.

Have a nice day!

Susie
I'm in. I had a busy eating weekend.
Dinner is over and done with and I'm going to watch some TV, read a book, hug my teenage daughter and husband. All that should take up what could be eating time, but is not going to be.
I'm in .. though jury is out in my head if I should fast today as I have a sore throat , ear ache and an upset tummy
I'll see how it goes as I'm not actually feeling much like eating anyway which will hopefully make up for the munchie attack I had on Saturday !

Good luck everyone
Oh that had me laughing SallyO!
Yes thanks Julianna, the hunger faded - although it is back now with a vengeance (6pm). I normally stick to tea and water, but think I'll be having some dinner tonight.
Welcome @SusieKa. Hope you have a good day. I am finished now. Dinner was fabulous. I am wanting dessert, but what is there that I can eat? Maybe a square of dark chocolate and one almond. Or will that just make me want more? Perhaps I should just close the kitchen and walk away. Plan a decadent dessert for tomorrow.
I'm in, but I don't feel very much up to it. yes I too struggle on my feed days to control what I eat. I am fasting today because I have gotten into a mind set of doing Mon, Wed, Fri and I don't want to stop that but i am a comfort eater and this week I have toooo much stress happening. Have been extremely busy with work and that requires solving other people's issues and believe me there have been many. But, worse my friend had a heart attack on Sat morning and died so added to my stress is sadness. Anyway, good luck to all fasters today.... :clover: :clover: :clover:
Oh @skinnyliso sorry to hear about your friend's passing x be gentle on yrself as you've had a big shock X
Get well soon @redrobin x

@skinnyli, what a shock that must be - take care of yourself.

@SusieKa, I've known some people experiment with multiple tiny meals throughout a fast day. It really is whatever works for you when you're trying out the rotations and getting into the rhythm. If you can identify appropriate meals of 100 calories or so, if it would help you to adapt, maybe it's something you might try?

@RedRobin, that sounds unpleasant: I hope it's a short-lived bug of some sort. Maybe your digestion would welcome a quiet day, under the circumstances.
On a FODMAPS-related note - I should know better than to eat cabbage more than once in a week. One portion a week = fine. 2 portions with a mere 48 hrs between = not at all fine.

Note to self, don't be lazy - blanch and freeze the remainder of the cabbage, don't just serve it again to use it up. I've set up more time-suck workarounds now that I can't have the meal that I was planning for this evening because the otherwise acceptable FODMAPS content would be too much in my present condition and I need to plan something else for those ingredients/left-overs. So, I didn't save any time at all - I've created more inconvenience. I must learn from this.

Appetite is OK but I'm having a rough time with cramps and relative bloating. Still, it's not like it used to be...
Good morning - I'm just starting my fasting Monday with a cup of black coffee. Planning a five hour window eating plan for the week with M/Th 500 calories. We'll see if something shakes loose at the end of the week. I really like how much more alert and focused I am at work on the days when I wait until 4 or 5pm to eat. The benefit is my husband has been traveling the last two weeks, so it's just me and the dog. Good time to experiment ;)
Have a great fast everyone. Congrats to all who are already finished.
I'm in today! 5th fast day now since I restarted, so far so great on the fasting front... feed days remain a wee struggle: felt quite guilty on Saturday as I snacked a bit more than I meant to. Odd how that is considering I have made it with no food at all so far today (and it's 3 pm here) and have not felt very hungry at all, and yet on Saturday I kind of felt 'hungry' for snacks, despite having eaten 3 sensible meals. Makes me feel like the process is working for me, though I need to remain hypervigilant on my feed days...

Looking forward to some smoked haddock for dinner tonight! I was thrilled to find pomelo at one of the local markets (a rarity in the NE of England). Going to have a wee bit of that tonight as a treat..

Good morning! I'm here today. I haven't lost any weight in over a month so I tried doing 8-16 on Saturday. I didn't go so well though. While I only ate in those 8 hours those 8 hours were full with high calorie food. However I tell myself it could have been worse if I hadn't only eaten in those 8 hours. I need to look up how to do 8-16 again and see what kids of calorie restrictions it has. But I'm set for 500 calorie fast today! Our new born nephew is having heart surgery today so I'm dedicating this fast day to him. Every time I feel hunger I will pray for my nephew. Have a great day everyone!
Oh @skinnyli - I'm so sorry!!! Maybe you can find a compromise to help you though this week. My husband figured out that eating 500 calories a day for two days or 1000 calories a day for three days was basically the same calorie deficit - at least for us, who have TDEE's well above 2000/day. Perhaps you can just be a bit gentler on yourself this week and do either only two fast days or three 1000 calorie lighter fasting days. That really sucks you have to go through all of that.

I'm in today as well, having woken up 3 pounds heavier this morning. While I'm pretty sure it is mostly water weight (BF is also lower, not higher) - it was enough of a rude awakening that I'm not eating until at least dinner. I was planning on serving leftovers that would blow 500 calories away, so I'm not sure if I'm going to deal with going to the market and cooking a different meal, or if I'm just going to call it good enough. My guess is dinner is about 800 calories.

I got some "fasting tea" by Yogi teas last week. It's got some detox herbs and such. I had a cup this morning and it's delicious, but it didn't seem to do anything more for hunger than a cup of chamomile.
