worst behind us now in Oz. Just had my Chinese soup and it was very filling and satisfying. Are the Americans awake yet?
G'day fabulous fasters, and aren't we all brilliant for being kind to our bodies with a good fast and few calories
:0)
I started at 7pm last night as usual, now onward and hopefully downward to 7pm tonight when I'll be ready for my avocado, boiled egg, leaves and decaf with double cream.
Good luck folks -\o/
Joining you today from Sussex & it's cloudy with occasional sunshine here. I have been working through a pile of ironing which includes some winter clothes because I have just swapped my summer clothes for warmer ones. I have so far had one coffee & will not eat until supper around 6-0pm. I'm back trying to lose weight & whilst fast days are easy it seems to be more difficult managing my eating days. However I mean to keep plodding on & working again towards my interim goal weight. I hope you all have already had or still have a good fast day.
Hi all, I'm in today too. Spent the weekend with the in-laws so there was a fairly constant stream of food! A bit of a relief to be doing a 5:2 day today. So far I have had 1 coffee, 1 tea then some veg soup for lunch. Now I have an icky metallic taste in my mouth, which is not fun - I remember getting it as a 5:2 side effect a while back but it hasn't happened for ages. I will keep sipping water - I find it helps most side effects on a fasting day!

Good fasting to all :clover: :clover:
I've been off 5:2 for a while and the weight crept up on me. Starting again today, will eat at 6:30pm, vegetables, lean chicken breast. Hope I can stay back on it. Tummy is rumbling, but I will have some green tea and keep busy.
America here! I'm in today, just had coffee and making my tea shortly; will do the usual broth etc etc later. I've been strict again on light days, tracking with MFP, and have lost 1.2lbs in 2 weeks (after a 3+lb gain over a month! :starving: ) I'm hoping to continue with that; I've "recommitted" to strict light days--and I'm "trying" to stay mindful on normal days...though this weekend was tough, we ended up with a plethora of goodies; I "had to" dispose of the last piece of pecan and apple pies last night...what a chore! And I'm back to weekly weighing, to ensure I stay on the straight and narrow, at least for now. I just want to make sure that I remember this is a WOL, NOT a "diet"! (Except in the sense that however one eats is a diet...) and not to get obsessed with losing weight, or being a certain weight. Stowgate resident mentioned wrinkles; at almost 60, I'm mindful of the French saying, After a certain age, a woman has to choose between her ass and her face...I definitely choose the latter! And since, ironically, my skin is young-looking due to taking care of it (because of lifelong skin problems!), I want to make sure I don't lose weight into a turkey neck! I have friends who are quite thin, and younger than me--but look older, as their faces have no volume. I'm trying to balance on that edge of "thin enough not to look old (and fat), "juicy" enough not to look gaunt." Not trying to deny my age (eh, I don't dye and am mostly white on top), just look good for it while being myself (tie dye and jeans, makeup when I feel like it; dress up once a year for a Christmas party, ha!).
@ferretgal really enjoyed reading yr contribution :like: Excellent! X :like:
Another American rolling in to peruse the forums as I sip my homemade chicken stock. It's actually quite satisfying on this unexpectedly frigid nyc day! Crisp Autumn days turned to a 35-degree morning today ack! (That's Fahrenheit. 32F is freezing.)

@Sallyo kudos to you for hanging in there! I can relate and appreciated reading about your challenges. I came back to the fasting fold in August and feel that I've been playing with 5-8 pounds. I'm really ready for the downward trend to kick in!
American, here!

I'm starving today. Just ate a small meal about 90 minutes ago, I'll get another 200 calories after I get home tonight, and in the meantime, there's always coffee to blunt my appetite.

What is it about feeling true hunger that makes me so happy? I think it's because I appreciate an actual hunger signal; I've had a couple of years where I just do NOT get hungry, even when going without food all day. I was on a behavior based approach to fat loss before, and part of that was eating when you're hungry, and not eating when you're not. I went nearly 3 days before I felt hungry, then, which really bothered me, since I used to have a very good and appropriate appetite and would know when I needed to fuel based on that.

Also, my blood sugar was 106 this morning. I will bet tomorrow morning I will be back into the 80s or 90s/ Getting better glycemic control would be nice, too! I'm not diabetic, but I've gone from being hypoglycemic in the past to being all over the place, now. Very disturbing to me.

Best of luck with the rest of today, my fellow fasters. :like:
Accidental fast today. Wasn't planning on a Monday fast but ate lunch at school and then had to take a pet to the vets straight after work. We got back at about 7pm so thought I may as well not bother with tea. School lunch was probably a bit high in calories for a fast day but I'm not too bothered.
@Loulou51 i always rather like the accidental fasts whenever they occur,as they usually pass so much more easily than planned ones!
Hope yr pet is ok? X
@CandiceMarie they're my favourite too. Parrot seems ok, he's had diarrhoea; vet couldn't find much wrong with him though birds are tricky. We'll watch him carefully over the next couple of days.
@fancyacuppa, that metallic taste is a sign that you are burning fat, or so I believe. I welcome it! And the good news from Tuesday is that my weight is down 2 kg this morning after yesterday's fast. I am toying with the idea of fasting tomorrow while I am at work. It's easier when I am busy and out of the house. Thanks for all the support, forumites.
@Sallyo I think you might be right about the funny metal taste being a sign of fat burning. I remember years ago, when hubby and I tried out the Atkins diet, we both had a weird metal taste in our mouth and our breath was shocking (like acetone!) Something to do with ketosis, me thinks. I also find that when I burn fat, my B.O. is shocking. Over time, some chemicals and toxins get stocked within our fat cells, so I assume when we start burning through them, we release all these horrible compounds.
We had snow flurries yesterday, and I froze throughout my fast today! How I wish my OH could fly without serious ear problems, because if he could, we would be "wintering" with you lovely people down under.

But I did fine despite the cold and am about to go to sleep. The challenge is not to overdo it tomorrow!
