Aw JaneG and Lilsmiler - I hope you both are feeling better soon!

Sallyo - depends on your bread. I get wholemeal bread that is 70 calories a slice, which is the same as an egg. I think that going over 500 calories by a few isn't the end of the world, in any case. But everyone's body seems to handle things differently, doesn't it?

I'm in for a fast day. Made my son some lovely french toast for breakfast and I'm having a black espresso. No calories for me until we go out for thai food tonight. That's our new tradition. After his guitar lessons, we go for dinner at a thai restaurant and I get the lovely dish of stir fried onions, broccoli, bell peppers and basil leaves with a bit of protein (usually chicken, but sometimes I get tofu or shrimp) and a small portion of brown rice. It's very light and they seem to use almost no oil. I have to say, it's so much easier whenever I don't have to cook on a fast day :-)
Hello I am in today too and back to my usual 4:3 days....quite a relief. I've spent five days with friends and put on a kilo in weight.....those naughty carbs are my downfall: scone cream teas to be precise. Nice though. Good luck fellow fasters. :clover:
Thanks Tracy. I managed without the bread. I'm going to be stricter with my fast days for a while. I can do it! Goodnight everyone.
Goodnight Sallyo and everyone. I'm off to bed as well.
Not great today, may have to have a good day tomorrow to make up for it!!!
:frown:
So of course I woke up at 5:30 AM, just as I was hoping not to. Made it to noon with only coffee, and then had some shirataki mushroom miso soup. Now the challenge is to convince myself that I won't die if I feel hungry, which I most definitely do.
I've been fasting today and haven't felt hungry really at all. I've just had my tea of 2 poached eggs on toast, and I've got enough calories left for a yogurt and something else before bed :)

I'm going away tomorrow though to work my way round staying with different friends, and eating a lot I think. I'm hoping not to be too naughty and undo all my good work so far :(

@Peebles -- Just remind yourself that feeling hungry means you are burning fat. Intermittent fasting, when alternated with days when you eat your TDEE, is a healthy way to burn that fat. And you're definitely not going to die if you feel hungry!

Now that I've actually learned (a) what true hunger feels like and (b) that I can actually be hungry without falling over, I am in control of snacking and that's an awesome feeling :-)

On another note: I just took myself out for a mani-pedi instead of lunch today. That was such a lovely treat and my feet and hands were in horrible shape from that brutal winter we had. I'm trying to look at it not so much that I'm spoiled, but that I kept someone employed at a service job that doesn't require they speak the language, gave them a pleasant customer and good tip. It's practically charity work ;-) How's that for justification? LOL Wouldn't it be nice to do that every week - sigh.
Tracieknits,

That sounds like a delightful indulgence! But the justification could cause problems. After all, today I am depriving the nice young couple who run the Pizza shop of the money they would otherwise earn from my lunch time salad and slice.
Love your Thai dinner idea @Tracieknits!. Just woke up at 4.15am! And tried for can hour to go back to sleep so on the forum instead after a successful Thursday fast yesterday.( I was asleep by 9.15!) Well last day of school term today. Easter egg hunt then an Easter hat parade for my preschoolers with the whole school then picnic lunch with the families then 2 weeks holidays .yippee! These holidays will be lovely as I haven't been paid for school holidays in 1 &1/2 years!
Xxx
Hoorah! A successful day, and I even managed through a headache which lasted from last night until this afternoon.

Julianna - enjoy the end of term, and enjoy the holiday :) I love my school holidays, but being self employed, I don't get paid during them!
I did two fasts this week :D and both were under 600cals!

Feel back in the swing of things now.. I've also been making sure to get my 5 a day in on my 'feast' days and am trying to watch carbs (although they are in everything)!

I've gone nearly two weeks without a drink too :)

Lil
Fast day dinners are so delicious. Today's was sauteed veggies, sauteed fish, and a small tossed salad. What a WOL!

Ok, I confess. One spoonful of gelato, probably about 40 calories.
I just feel like I can't stop eating today so I'm going to bed. didn't have a good fast - actually I didn't have a fast at all. I'm just hungrytoday. I guess it will get better next time. night.
