Hello fasters. I'm in. At work. Been to yoga; had a black coffee at a coffee shop with my fellow fasting friend and now I'm into it. It's porterhouse steak for dinner tonight, and salad. Love summer where you can pick new grown lettuce from the garden. Have a good day everyone.
Hi Sallyo I' m in after a sleep...might be like my Monday F n R with a few extra cals, but i' m taking things cautiously and one day at a time
Goodluck Fab Fursday Fastees! X
Hi all Thursday fasters. I am in today but not like always. My OH is away and I am going out with five other ladies to a Thai dinner out and am sure will be drinking too. So it is going to be a half a day fast and must do another half day tomorrow. I have a busy Saturday too so fasting this week is a bit shaky for me. :curse:
I'm in but finding it hard to concentrate at work, and making excuses about why I should eat today instead.
@Katamac don't cave in, it's only a day  I'm in, something with eggplant tonight and a big salad. I was looking forward to strawberries but the ones at the shop were yuck.
I'm seriously considering trying the high fat low carb way of eating after watching the Catalyst program again. Did try to start yesterday but then went out to dinner and had the best dessert plus man potato with mains - not a good start there
Well, I am/was?? intending to fast today and have made it to almost 2pm without eating. But i am feeling miserable - had a family 'argument' last night which resulted in us all going to bed out of sorts, weather is warm but overcast and feels depressing, and then I backed the corner of the car into a concrete "doorway " in an impossible to get into carpark in an unfamiliar area, and have done damage... Argh!!! Also feeling down cos younger son is moving out of home in the next few days - he and I chat a lot (well, compared to the other 2 menfolk who say very little!) and I will dearly miss him.
On a more positive note, I have returned from 9 days away where I did indulge in some amount of additional eating (tho I did manage 1 full and 1 partial fast) and my weight and body fat is much the same as when I left.
Which is why, if I decide not to fast today, I will forgive myself. But I am having a black coffee, and writing this helps with my resolve, so will see what happens.
Best wishes to others fasting today! :) :clover:
I'm fasting today too! It's my second fast as I'm trying to get back into 5:2. My first fast went fairly well, but I'm feeling pretty hungry today so I've been drinking a lot of water, and ate some yogurt. I'm trying to save most of my calories for an early dinner, so I just need to hold out for another few hours so I'm hoping it will go well! Good luck to all those who are fasting! :)
Oh dear @Sassy1, I feel for you. I know how you feel as I have the same situation in my household. Three men and only my younger son is the one I can share my problems with. He also has moved out. Share with friends, go out to shopping therapy or coffee therapy. I find that if I share some of my problems with friends, I don't feel as guilty as making my son depressed. About your car, these things happen to everyone, specially me! and it is like people who smoke and think if something happens they have to smoke. But I always envy you for having a BMI bordering nearly with under weight people. It should not be a problem having a lose fast. Good luck :clover:
You've both got fabulous BMIs, so stop stressing. @Pariah and @Sassy1! Family arguments are horrible especially when they happen at night and you have to sleep with them. The empty nest syndrome comes to all mothers,(except the ones you can't get rid of their kids,) and can be Hard, but then, you get over it, and you start to enjoy the freedom of being a childless woman. Children leave home if you have been a successful parent. So well done! As for the car, that is just what you didn't need today! How wrong and unfair that it had to happen today! Be kind to yourself Sassy! Hugs.

I am doing ok. I just bought some strawberries from the berry farm so they will be gorgeous- that's dessert. And then Porterhouse and salad and just one pinkeye potato and the nearest smidge of butter. Roll on dinner. I have a few hours to go. Off to drink liquorice tea.
@Sallyo and everyone, I'm in! Thursdays are my second fast day of the week. I expected it would be a normal one! Not so, I have totted up 200 cals more than I would have liked. However, all is not lost, I am calling this a light food day for my peace of mind.

I love that about 5:2, it is freedom to choose and to not be down hearted if things change and do not end up how hoped at the end of the day.
Happy fasting to all!
Thanks for your kind and supportive words, @Pariah and @Sallyo, I really appreciate it.

If I can add to my woes, I had the car accident while trying to find a park at the radiologist where I was going for an MRI on my knee. I had an ACL replacement a year ago, but the knee has been playing up a little - swelling that wouldn't go away. So GP ordered the MRI - and I got a very prompt phone call saying that the artificial ACL has failed, and is just hanging by a thread. So back to the surgeon and goodness knows what. Lots of $$$s I know that!!

Sally, you are absolutely correct that with a BMI like mine I should not be worrying about missing a fast - nor should I be making any weight related moans in general! I am very aware of that, when I know so many on this forum are facing all sorts of challenges.

Your food for today sounds lovely. :) We are having dinner late tonight but I think I will be able to hang out til then. Have had a miso soup and a Berocca (!!!) and will have something nice for dessert and won't worry about the cals - at least I have had a decent fasting period today. :)

And Pariah, I see you are in Melbourne too. Let me know if you would like to catch up in person at any stage. We have had one Melbourne get together of 5 of us, and a couple of us have got together separately as well. :) Btw I think 18.5 is the BMI borderline for underweight, so I am a little removed from that!
I'm in! Though I'm supposed to be going to help with decorating the public rooms of a local 'castle' ready for the Christmas Fair at the weekend. Then lunch in the cafe. I haven't decided whether to go because there's loads to do here since our decorator finished yesterday. Dither dither :?:
I hope your day has improved @Sassy1. By the way, we both reached target last year, but I wasn't as good as you at maintaining, well done!! :like: :star:

Good luck everyone :clover:
I'm in today. Missed my two fast days last week. Had a sinus infection and cough. Couldn't face fasting but couldn't eat a whole lot so I'm still on track. Finally feeling better this week and my appetite is kicking back in.....
Good luck everyone!
I am fasting today too with Sallyo and Sassy and all you others. Never hungry anymore, but lately fasting has been cold and miserable. Well, it is not meant to be too easy. Writing here helps the time go by. I am waiting for tea time at 3 and tea with milk. My BMI is very good too, Sallyo, but this maintaining business is quite something. Last year I put it all back again - though under very exceptional circumstances. I made desert last weekend and had good food and put on a kilo. I've only now lost it again with missing lunches since Monday. Last Thursday when I fasted I didn't lose much weight at all. So I am still learning how to maintain.... sigh! Only 2,5 hours left until tea time.

I am in too. I have also not been maintaining for long but it seems to me that maintaining is all about being vigilant and responding immediately when we reach a certain weight. I think we need good give consideration what our bottom and top of a sustainable weight range is and mark both lines in red. Where we draw the line (some like a slightly higher and some like lower BMI) is not so important but that we stick to it. I seem to be so easily convinced that just a lb or two over is OK but alas whilst it probably does not matter - it is a slippery slope.
I think the range has to be a 4lb range at least as some of the increase/decrease is just food/water and part of natural weight fluctuation rather than fat.
