UK fasters should be in bed now? US still going...ok I hope! :)
Didn't keep to the 500 cals but still consider it a fast day - felt very hungry all evening so did have 2 apples and 2 pieces of chocolate. I melt the chocolate, it seems much more satisfying and tasty that way!!! (I previously tried a protein bar as an alternative to chocolate, but it was not as satisfying and seems to be full of more synthetic ingredients than chocolate is...)
Don't feel hungry yet today, but probably will have a late breakfast.
Best wishes to all!
@Candicemarie nighty nighty. Yep, it worked for me. I have noticed on non fast days if I have a healthy non carb lunch I don't need much at dinner, if at all. I'm 9 months in - I don't think that works when you start 5:2 as you maybe relinquishing b/fast and lunch for a dinner and less carbs. Bedtime. Off to big birthday party weekend in the morning, hope Mum likes her fun dress. Fingers crossed x
@egregious happy birthday to you, I hope you had a fabulous day  :present: :cake: and best wishes for the year ahead :clover:
I was able to avoid a yummmyyyyy cupcake that my coworker offered me and I so wanted to eat it. She ended up eating some of it and threw the rest away. I asked her were she got it and I might drive over there tomorrow and buy one lol. Then I came home and my mother in law brought my favorite cookies (oreo's) so I'm put those away till tomorrow if they survive the kids tonight. Now I just have to avoid the oreo's for 5 more hours.....
I'm wrapping up my fast day-- 9:00 pm in Las Vegas, NV, USA. I had a long day wrangling the kids and sitting at my son's baseball game while junk food was being eaten all around me, and I'm feeling woefully underfed by my 400-calorie portion of chicken curry. Mostly what I want is a BIG glass of red wine--I actually considered doing a liquid fast and only drinking the wine. :curse: I may have to turn in early to avoid being near the pantry... just a few more hours until I can eat! =)
I noticed a few others were extra hungry today--me too! Wonder if it had anything to do with the eclipse? Had a "snack" (hardboiled egg) that helped while cooking...just had a little less dinner. Found that's better than grazing mindlessly while I cook. In particular, I use the "Beyond Meat" chickenless strips a lot for light day stir frys, and have found if I leave the package out, I tend to grab a couple of extras to nosh on. At 20cals each, not too bad, but still need to keep track. So now I take out however many I need for my recipe, and put the rest back in the fridge.

As I posted on Monday, I find it easier to be "really strict" 2 days a week than restricting myself on a daily basis. But I need to make those 2 days count, not "cheating" by adding a few cals here and there and undermining my efforts.

Was shopping with my son; he got a package of donuts (wasn't there something about donuts on Monday? ) that looked way too good. So I took one out and saved it for tomorrow.
@CandiceMarie, how do you go to bed hungry??? With menopause, I'm lucky to get 6-7 hours as it is (and tend to get up to pee even more following a light day!) and just can't do it. That's why I save up my cals for as late as I can manage. Just have to have a happy tum to sleep!

@Amulet, good for you...you clearly understand that planning ahead is key at being successful in this WOL. When I first started, I thought going to the grocery store, or cooking, would be torture. But most of the time it's OK; I just can't make certain things. My adult son is good about it, he understands I'll make him a sandwich or something not too yummy-smelling (smell wakes up the hungries more than anything else!) and supports my WOL. And I stay away from BAKERIES on light days (my downfall!). Yet a couple weeks ago I got really busy on a light day and FORGOT to eat my "lunch" (usually fruit and nonfat greek yogurt at about 6pm)...Not today! I was hungrier on a light day today than in a long time (today was my 52nd fast/light day!).
Enjoy the party @lizbean and i hope yr mum has a ball!
I might give your lunch idea a go..nice to have a change at times
@ferretgal i have my dindins about sixish, usually can't manage much later than seven at the latest. Am nearly always hungry going to bed on a fast day, even if i save a few cals for a 40 cal chocdrink or something.i guess i have a big belly that takes some filling up! X congrats on yr 52 fast days! :like: x
@Lizbean @CandiceMarie Thanks ladies  How do you tell if it's someone's birthday? I suppose it's listed somewhere but not sure where. :?:
@egregious i don't know, but i think @ballerina or@silverdarling will be able to tell us x

I'm sorry but since the forum changed I have no idea how to find out whose birthday it is. It was always on the home page along with a tally of how many members there were but that also seems to have 'Gone With The Wind'!

Ballerina x
Ah right thanks @Ballerina I thought I was just being dense and unobservant.
