Every day there will be a new topic in this forum for today's fasters to chat & support each other.
Please don't make extra threads in here besides the daily fasting threads, if you've got a question please post it in the relevant forum or ask in today's 'Fasting Today' thread, thank you.
I didn't gain anything after the extended Thankgiving , which is good news. Two portions of turkey are in the freezer, there's one more container of Turkey soup in the fridge (we ate another one yesterday) and the other remains of the turkey are on their way to the dump. I can't understand why they call it "Turkey Day" when it is really "Turkey Week!"
I am new here and not sure if I am posting correctly. I saw what Sassy1 wrote: Must try not to overindulge today...
And that was just what I was going to ask about. I just finished my 2nd fast day--yesterday after lunch until today at lunch. Now I am ravenous and eating junk. Will this go away?
Thanks!
This message is read only by people who are fasting today. You'll get more replies if you start a new post in the General 5:2 and Fasting Chat section.
But the short answer is that yes, over time, people don't get so hungry the day after fasting.
But I'm wondering why you are fasting from lunch to lunch. Most of us here are eating 400-600 calories during a day that starts when we wake up and ends when we wake up the next morning.

Hi cms, welcome! It's really an adjustment at first... when I first started fasting I found it really hard to manage without food during the first few fast days. Sipping lemon water or cucumber water helped me or a good cup of coffee/tea.. as well as trying to fast on really busy days. If you've got work or school or something that ties up most of the day (away from food) it may help your body get used to it. For me personally I found focusing my fasting eating at the end of the day helped me, too. Oh and coming to this forum helps me too, when I'm struggling a bit. Reading a few posts reminds me of why I'm doing this. But it really does get a lot easier. Now I'm a month into things I find I spend hours without even thinking about food and look forward to planning my modest meal on the fast day--even more than my feed days. Hoping things will keep going smoothly as I start my second month.
It became easier for me, gradually overtime. I find I have to be respectful of fast days 1) mindfully acknowledge the day 2) keep the kitchen door closed 3) drink lots and lots of water 4) I can eat tomorrow 5) AND have fun and enjoy today 6) no rush x
I am in today! Just about done, so that's good! I haven't fasted in awhile, I was sick and on medicines and didn't feel up to adding more stress on to that. And then of course, Thanksgiving! Yikes! So I'm up a few lbs. Happy to have successfully fasted today, though! Glad to be back before the holidays, because then it would really snowball! Hope everyone had a good day!
I am thinking about a brief detox while I'm unemployed. And although I'm not a big Dr Oz fan, just as I was thinking about it, he had a show on a 3-day "soup" detox. What I had to laugh at though, he kept saying, Oh, this'll keep you from feeling hungry--like hunger is so awful! Or that it's the reason that diets fail. If that was the case, a lot fewer people would regain. Anyway, his basic soup plan seems pretty good and easy for a 5:2er, so I might give it a whirl. If I do, I'll post about it.
