Good morning Wonderful Wednesday Fasters...I'm in for my 2nd fast this week...please come and join me :)
Hi there. Im in. Its still the night before here. Im just planning the day ahead and plugging in my planned food into mfp. Up for a run in the morning.
I'm right with you! Second fast of the week for me and doing another on Friday. I like interspersing my 5:2 with the odd 4:3 to keep my body guessing. Still yet to have a weigh in after starting 5:2 again about a month ago. Fingers crossed the scales are kind to me!!

Only liquids today until dinner tonight, probably chicken and veg. I weirdly crave steamed veg now... I care more about it than the chicken!

Good luck to everyone fasting!
I'm jumping in today too. It was touch and go to whether it would be a 5:2 or a 6:1 this week, but as I've weighed in this morning 1/2 a kilo heavier than last week and I've got a weekend of food related activities ahead, I think a 5:2 is the right option.

Have a great day fellow fasters :clover:
Go for it fab fasters! X
I'm in too guys! Good luck all! I've started adding in lunch because I miss having food halfway through a busy day at drama school :) working well so far... plan tomorrow is big salad for lunch with 2 ryvitas with lemon curd (total cals 173), then a cheese and mushroom omelette for dinner :) similar to anyone else? x
I'm also in for the 2nd fast of the week. This will be the last for awhile--maybe a half-fast on Friday. I'm having a little ski holiday with work friends. I'm nervous about the cold and my not quite 100% recovered broken arm, but it will be good to get away.
Happy Fasting everybody

I have pitched my tent and taking the scenic route for the moment, I have the munchies and am advised it's probably due to the iron tablets that I have been on for a couple of weeks, but I need to take them as I am low in iron.

I just need to make sure when I do eat, its healthy food, and be very mindful and not the carbs of bread, biscuits etc. I am working on it!!

Back to basics for me for a couple of weeks.

Enjoy your day.

cheers Maggie :curse: :curse:
Hi all :)
Like some others I have changed my Thurs fast to Wed, as I have commitments Thurs-Sun for the next few weeks which would make fasting more challenging.

Interesting to see that a few of you are regular Mon and Wed fasters - how do you manage not giving (too much!) into temptation with the 4 non-fast days in a row?

@Maggiee, good luck for getting your iron levels back up, and for resisting those foods that will slow your progress!

@Otter, sorry to hear that your scales are showing a gain - did that match your expectation or could it be that a lot of it may be water? Anyway, good luck shifting it before the weekend ahead.

@tinamacarina, much as I love ryvitas, I do try to avoid processed carbs on fast days (part from the little bit of choccie to help me sleep!). I do sometimes have a big salad at lunchtime, with salmon or tuna, but generally try to hang on til dinner when I have lots of veggies and fish or chicken, and then berries and non-fat non-added sugar/sweeteners good quality yoghurt (which I don't have if I have had salad for lunch). But of course, you can have whatever works for you :)

@MaryAnn, have a wonderful weekend away, but do rug up and watch that arm!

And @kelkelkelster, how soon do you plan to see whether the scales are kind?? Hopefully you have other signs from your body that this WOL is working for you again :)

Happy fasting everyone. :D
Thanks, @Sassy1.

Re: 4 non-fast days in a row, I do 4:3 so that's not an issue for me...
@sassy1, I was actually thinking I may have had more of a gain... my feast days have been particularly delicious!

Still working out how this maintenance caper works, so 1/2 a kilo up and down isn't worrying (particularly after a 6:1 week), and so far my pattern of rotating 5:2 and 6:1 weeks seems to be doing the trick.

Good luck with your Wednesday fast and enjoy the non fast days even more!
Hi @Sassy1

It's a bit of a pickle because my scales has no batteries, and I keep putting off buying batteries, initially because I thought the longer I leave it, the more chance of a loss. Now I am thinking if I haven't lost anything after 4-5 weeks of 5:2 I'll be so upset and this is putting me off buying the batteries too.

Just typing this has made me realise how ridiculous I'm being, I'm going to text the OH right now and ask him to get me some batteries on his way home!

I feel like I'm smaller, I think I can see it in the mirror especially in my face, and I definitely can't eat nearly as much.

How's everyone's fast going? Mine is going well but I'm at that stage where I google food and stare at pictures of it haha!

:victory:
After a sleep, I will be in for Wed fast. It is my usual fast day and has been going well since reverting back to 5:2 on Sun. Feb 16.
I have been to Plateauland and briefly in the ADF tent (2 weeks) but what seems to be working for me, at this moment, (fingers crossed, breath held ) is classic 5:2 with a side order of low carb (<75g per day)
My daily weight tracker has been going down every day by a little bit since moving to this plan. Before that, my daily weight was up and down "like a bride's nightie" as so eloquently put by someone in this forum. (sorry, can't find the source)
Can't wait to get started on my next fast tomorrow. I finished my day today by eating 2 tablespoons of coconut oil which doesn't count for ANY carbs even though it is close to 300 cal
(But I am not counting calories on non-fast days, only carbs)
Will keep you posted how this goes.
Good Luck everyone and an easy fast to all :clover:  :clover:  :like:
Hi all :)
I am just having my second black coffee for the day, and in less than an hour will start preparing dinner - yeah - lots of veggies and small amount of bolognese sauce (the rest of the family will have the spaghetti). And there will be some cals spare for yoghurt and berries.

Kept myself busy with gardening and then visiting a friend for singing practice/learning parts, so the day has gone without too much in the way of hunger pangs. :)

Hi @judithn and others who mention counting carbs. What carbs do you count - or, rather, are there any you don't? How do you work out the carbs in fruit and veggies - I presume there is a reference list somewhere that gives %carbs for any given food?? Will be interested in how it continues to go for you, Judith - sounds very positive so far! :) and it is great when you look forward to fast days, isn't it?!

Hi again @kelkelkelster, sounds like a good idea not to put off that weighing any longer! And hopefully the results will be ok. :) And as for googling pictures of food - sounds like torture to me!!

So @Otter, weight gain was not "too" bad then. Hopefully it will shift pretty fast - you sound happy with the routine you have going. I am still sticking with 5:2 every week for the moment - esp with all those weekend suppers coming up!! But I will definitely enjoy those non-fast days :)

I guess the Northern Hemisphere fasters will be joining us soon - good luck to all :D
I'm in - usual Weds fast here, but I always find them harder than Mondays for some reason. This week I've put weight on (too many carbs at the weekend and it seems I just have to LOOK at something carb laden now and I gain.) Still, tomorrow's another day as they say..............
