Today is my first day fasting, I've made it past breakfast and lunch time and am grabbing a glass of water whenever hungriness hits. Very tempted to take a quick nap though as I feel super sleepy and a bit headachy. What sort of impact would a low cal energy drink have on a fasting day? I think it may be worth a go in a bit.
@cblasz, Great to see you back!

I'm fasting for the first time in 11 days. This isn't my usual fast day, but I have something I have to do tomorrow that wouldn't be a good match with fasting. I'll go back on my regular M/T schedule next week.
Hi, this is not my usual fasting day but due to commitments on Monday and Tuesday I am fasting today. Had my last meal 24 hrs ago - it is now 3pm and I am OK - a bit hungry but not too bad. Wondering if I can do a 36 hr fast but I generally become weak in the evening. It's not so much a physical need - but a phsycological one. Food at the end of the day is relaxing. Will let you know tonight how I managed.
@Starlyter The headache and tiredness can have the same cause, low fluids and low salt. Instead of an energy drink try a mug of boulion, or Bovril or miso soup for the salt. If you drink lots of coffee or tea it could also be caffiene withdrawal so don't cut those out too heavily in your first weeks.
 I am in, LET'S KICK IN OCTOBER
I'm in, and am struggling right now... probably cos I put the girls and hubbys dinner in the slow cooker and now the house smells of baked potatoes. Planning a Thai seafood stir fry for dinner and am counting the minutes till dinner time... only 66 to go! Am going shopping in ikea this evening to keep me busy, had a mini nap whilst the girls were asleep earlier so no early night for me today
Aspecial well done to the Wednesday Wizard fasters, specially those who are also starting the Xmas challenge today!
No fasting for me til tomorrow, but having a low cal 16:8 day to start my challenge x
I'm only in my second week but take heart other newbies - this fasting thing gets easier. In fact, I'm surprised by how easy it's becoming and the fact I feel less, rather than more, hungry the day after! Still, early days but it does help the motivation to keep going!
I've fasted today and just had my meal - an M&S salad with extra Mexican chicken and a raspberry jelly - I am stuffed now and should survive until the morning when a hotel breakfast awaits

Well done to all my fellow fasters - especially the newbies!

@greenmonster - why not go for full fat yoghurt instead - may be more cals but so much better for you @carorees will back me up on that one!

Onwards and downwards folks!

Well hello everyone!

Yesterday was a bit like watching/being a condemned man - I ate all sorts of things I shouldn't ....knowing that today I was seriously committing myself to some good weightloss between now & Christmas.

For various reasons, I completely sucked at the Springing into Fall challenge....but I am renewing my faith in 5:2 and myself (more to the point) and kicking off the Christmas challenge with a Wednesday fast......

Just had my soup, which was lovely! Think I've got today licked.....

:rainbow: :rainbow: :rainbow:
Had a good FD with plenty of mixed vegetables and my usual FF Greek Yoghurt :)

My sense of taste and smell is intermittent so I like FF yoghurt on days like today because altho' full fat is a pleasant mouthfeel it tends to flatten other tastes below the level where I can detect them.

Good Luck in the remaining hours of Wednesday, wherever my fellow fasters may be :) :clover:
Ssure does this intermittent loss of taste and smell have any impact in how much you eat?

I did eat around 450cals today after all - wanted to do a 36hrs fast. Nothing to be done now. The great thing about this WOE is that there is always another fast day just around the corner. we always get another chance to try again.
Even a fast day of 800cals is still better than indulging 24/7. Anything under TDEE is great. The scales might not go down as fast but they should also not go up either. As long as we stay positive and don't give up.
I finally came in at 560 kcals which is still under my fast day limit, I even counted the bonbons I chomped on without thinking. I am going to have to give them away or something, they are much to tempting.

I also went to the gym and am very sore (I have a sadistic instructor). I'm not expecting much in the way of weight loss bcause of the sore muscles and will be retaining water because of it.
Thanks @peebles!

I'm so proud of myself. I fasted ALL day. I didn't need my emergency banana (although I think somehow knowing it was there helped.) I had my salad at dinner!

Next week I go back to 2 days a week!
