I've been fasting today, too. It's been ok so far. I've been disorganized, though, and have to go the shop before dinner. That's always tough.
Hi everyone

we are in too, although very tired :sleepy: . had a really bad night and still feel sleepy. :dazed: Would love a coffee but since I use too much sugar that's a no no today.

We'll see how it goes. Good luck to everyone. :clover:
In today after a couple of days of much less healthy eating than I've become used to over the past few months. I'm just 2lb off my target so not hugely worried about that- particularly as I'm in that 50+ age band where being at the lower end of a healthy BMI can mean your face looks older than it did before losing the weight. It does concern me though that I'm slipping back to bad habits ('Ive started so I'll finish yours as well as mine') but at least the fast day feels like a way of avoiding slipping too far down that slope and losing heart. Good luck everyone :)
Here I am! Already hungry and ready to clean the balconies and get food out of my head.
Morning all, this is my very first fast! Currently on 225 cals so far and plan to have the rest for my lunch. Lets hope today is a breeze!
Hi folks,

Haven't been on here in ages but I have come back today with my tail between my legs because I really need some encouragement/feedback.

I have been happily doing 5:2 since February and I love it. Once in a while I do 6:1. Last week I was visiting my mother and ended up really pigging out and eating lots of white bread, butter, pizza, cheese, chips which once in a while is fine but for some reason since I did that I have been finding it really hard to fast. I have blown off my last two and I am trying to find any excuse I can today to not fast today. I keep thinking 'Why not write this month off and start again in August (that would mean my next fast is on Monday or Wednesday next week... Has this happened to anyone else? I have been doing this for so long now I really didn't think I would suddenly find it so difficult.

Thanks in advance. Hope everyone else is having a good fast day. I am going to guzzle some water and try to exorcise these quitting thoughts.
Count me in for fast number 2 of the week, good luck everyone! :clover:
Yay my day is all but over :) second successful fast in 3 days for me, have also managed to exercise both fast days so am quite pleased with myself!
Hi All,
I'm in too. Second fast of the week and I feel great (some fasts are just easier than others!)

Hi Teresab1979. Couldn't help noticing that we both hail from the Emerald Isle. Also share a similar dilema. You mentioned you've just had a lenghty break from 5:2. Where I just came back to the fold last week after a 2 month break.
My advice would be just get straight back into it. Pick your 2 fast days and stick to them.
Last week was a struggle initally, but after my 2nd fast I felt as though my body had been reset.
After eating so much rubbish on my extended break, I'd forgotten what hunger felt like.
This week by comparrison has felt so easy and I feel back on track, thankfully.
So Go For it, it will be worth it. Good Luck :clover:

And Good Luck all fellow fasters :clover:
Ah hello there! I am in Westmeath (originally from Wexford).

Thanks for your reply. I think you misunderstood my post. I have only blown off my last two fasts. I haven't had a long break from 5:2 but I am finding it strange that after all this time doing 5:2 with hardly any bother I am suddenly finding it hard and trying to find excuses not to fast.

Your advice is good though and I think if I get through today hopefully that will re-set things and stop this 'Ah just go ahead and eat it! You can fast another day' attitude. :-)

Thanks for the encouragement. Need it today! :-)

Hi there - this is my 2nd of 3 this week - going camping with friends for weekend and want to be able to enjoy egg and bacon roll for breakfasts! I have lost 1 1/2 stone since end of May - must say I'm feeling great and am using protein shakes for breakfast and lunch (as recommended by my personal trainer son) and have a light meal in the evening. Had steak and all the trimmings plus 2 glasses of red wine last night so finding things a bit hard today .....roll on that next shake!
Teresa, I had a week like the one you described last week, my eating was pretty out if control for a full week, and everytime I promised myself I would return to fasting the next day, I'd find an excuse not to ( eg I've blown it this week so I'll just continue bingeing and start again next week). Thankfully I managed to stick to Mondays fast & then fasted again today. For me I've just needed to remind myself about how terrible I feel when eating that badly, then just distract myself until I make it past lunch time, then I know I'll generally make it through.

This week has been tough though, I've really struggled and needed distractions big time to make it through. Exercise has helped though and I feel now like my appetite has been reset.

You can do it, keep going!
Thank you for that. Yeah, I am suddenly the queen of brilliant excuses not to fast but let's be honest there's a lot more good reasons to fast than there are crap exuses not to. I need to remember that. I've made it to midday now so I need to just stay focused and look forward to the 're-set' feeling. You're right.

Cheers. :-)
I'm in. I'm at work and my colleagues have a big bag of haribo that I am desperately trying to avoid!
Sorry Teresab1979
That'll teach me to speed read, I'm on a quick break from work and flying through the posts.

If you've only missed the last 2 fasts then don't give yourself a hard time.
You've been on it consistently since Feb, so that's pretty impressive.
Some fasts are easier than others and we're only human so don't give yourself a hard time if you can't manage a fast.

But it's worth remebering you'll feel much better tomorrow if you stick it out and you can eat what you like then.

Maybe read some of the inspitaional stories if you have time, They really helped me last week.
Best get back to work, break finished a few mins ago.

Good luck :clover:
