Fasting Weds 18th Feb
18 Feb 2015, 08:22
I'm in and I have given up chocolate for Lent - I thought it might do me good and help me get the last extremely stubborn 3kg or so off. My willpower around chocolate isn't great, alas.

Good luck to anyone else fasting today.

Hi @Loversghost. Yes, my mum asked me why I didn't give up chocolate for lent. I explained that I'm fasting every other day...thats enough for now! Good luck though Ghosty. I look forward to hearing if you do it without too many probs. Last year I gave up chocolate for an eternity. I can't remember how long now but I know it was much longer than a month. I don't think I could have left cheese off the menu. I love my macaroni and cauliflower cheese too much
Anyway, don't worry; you are not alone! I am fasting again today...second of the week. I've got some beef thing tonight...and my dieting buddy...a bowl of Cheerios...no milk. They last throughout the evening. I highly recommend it if you struggle in the evenings. Find a bowl of something to "nibble" on. Nibbling is good!

Anyway, I can't believe its just us. Its not THAT early. Hey ho! Heres to a Wicked Wednesday fast

Thanks@nursebean! Yep I am really struggling in the evenings these days - so it just goes to show that I am ALWAYS going to have to struggle with the desire to eat more than I should. I just thought the Lent thing might give me a bit of a boost - I am losing and gaining the same couple of kgs and I really want to get to 60kg and there I will be happy and start maintenance. I am quite good at the self sabotaging thing just lately though. Good luck today and may the fast be with you (eh?)

Another Wednesday faster here. Had a serious pig out last night, now need to rest my stomach!

Oh very good @loversghost...very good!
@Minsmum?!! At last! We're in sync! ( I almost wrote sink there which would have had a whole other meaning wouldn't it!) Are you going to be able to fast today as its half term? :?: :starving:

Joining in for most of the day because I am eating out tonight so trying to reduce calories for that. Just getting ready to go to the dentist for a check up & repair to a chipped front tooth :frown: :curse: But because it is cold & frosty outside will need to de-ice the car!
Hope you all have a good day.

My regular 4:3 Wednesday.

Piece of arcane randomness about mincemeat is that it used to be associated with Lent as well as Christmas according to Anne-Marie Boermans (no suet nor added sugar): http://timetocookonline.com/2011/11/27/ ... mincemeat/

I've only just spotted this thread, so I'm chipping in, although I am near the end and just filling up on sugar free jelly.
I have been practising mindful eating the other days which has been an i teresting exercise, only eating when I'm hungry and then eating what I want. I haven't been over eating as I am really thinking about whether I'm really hungry or not.
I would give up chocolate but I'm not a quitter
Lenten Fast
18 Feb 2015, 10:46
I started my 40 day Lenten fast today. Is anyone else doing this???
I haven't eaten anything yet.
My 'fasting' is going to be a window approach. I'll have a small break-fast at 15:00
and then regular supper with Hubby at 18:00.
I wanted to start a new topic, and haven't a clue how to do it. I am not in Facebook or stuff like that. This is the only 'social media' that I am interested in.
In a couple of hours I can have my break-fast. Then it'll be only 39 days left....

I am in today too, over here in the Frozen North. Soooo sick of this bone-chilling cold (- 10C or colder have been the daytime "highs" for over a month); supposed to be a balmy -6C today :dazed:
I have been white-knuckling my way in maintenance, barely able to hang on to my upper weight range, forget about my goal. Oh well, miso soup and black coffee coming up.
Also forgot about the start of Lent. I was considering giving up alcohol again as I did it for the month of November without much problem. OK, that's it...no alcohol until Easter, you read it here first
Good luck all you remaining fasters. :clover: :like:

Oh dear judithn I just can't imagine tolerating that cold! I also find on fast days that I feel colder anyway. Very well done maintaining your weight & continuing to fast :like:

I had a run in with some donuts yesterday so I REALLY need this fast.

Did my boot camp workout this morning and now it's coffee & hot tea till dinner!

Good luck all!

I'm in today. Back home from work and hung out washing. It is a lovely day here today - a balmy 12C, sunny and windy. The highlight of my day will be going to bed tonight in my line dried duvet set and sheet. I'm planning a shop bought feta salad for dinner tonight.
