Monday Fast June 8th
07 Jun 2015, 23:18
OK, time to beat myself around the noggin with the wet fish, horror show on scales this am, have not been on them for so long and today I knew I must after looking like 2lbs of sh squashed into a 1lb bag yesterday at a birthday party. So veg cooked and there will be 2 meals of it and probably a mini protein bar in there, coffee and an 8 cal hot choc to finish the day. Good luck to anyone joining me.

Not today GMH duet to public holiday but cheering you on from the sidelines. Are you going to take your dogs for a walk on the beach today? :dog: :dog: :island: How did you cook your veg?

Hello @GMH. Here I am on the mobile, at the hospital, waiting for a visit from the doctors. Fasting today. Trying out then menu plan in the Women's Weekly 5:2 Diet Recipe book. Odd breakfast of boiled egg, prosciutto and broccoli- substituted for asparagus which is unobtainable in winter. I think egg without toast doesn't cut it. Tuna salad for lunch and soup for dinner. Don't know how it will go. I don't get it, Julianna, why you wouldn't fast on a public holiday, unless it was a big feast kind of holiday. @juliannaAre you really celebrating the Queen's birthday? Or is it just an excuse not to fast? Sorry to be cheeky!

@Julianna, public hols suit me as I can cook healthy and eat when I am hungry, had half a kent pumpkin and purple cauliflower from farmerrs market, boiled and smashed with salt and pepper. beautiful flavours. Will walk my boys shortly down the track by the stream to the oval, then later I will walk them on the beach with my friend and her wee beast. In the meantime I have lots of cleaning to do

@GMH that sounds like a good plan, including the noggin fish - love fish, not tried that one yet even though I probably deserve it at 1.30am. @Sallyo I hope you are well and OH is on the mend.
Yes, I'm fasting when I wake up. Good luck everyone :clover: :victory:

@Lizbean the Noggin fish is a dirty big ugly mother that has magical qualities, not to be eaten, only for slapping :-)

Hi @SallyO, of course you can ask me anything you :clover: . Public holidays mean an extra family day where I usually cook up a storm with lots of love and we all eat together which sadly doesn't happen much on week nights with adult children coming and going. Today I was going to experiment and make a roast pork loin sitting on a bed of rhubarb but hubbie wants us to go to the local bowling club for a nice meal together before heads to Canberra tomorrow for the rest of the week. So I'll pop the pork in the freezer for next weekend and I'll fast Tuesday and Thursday this week.

Oh so it is a Feast celebration,@julianna. Any public holiday will do! Hope you enjoy the bowling club offerings. I am now home from the hospital. OH to come home tomorrow. Renovations have started on the sewing room/music room. An old window and door have been removed and boarded up. Skirting boards have gone and now the plaster is being removed. I just had lunch, modified recipe: rocket , parsley and carrot from the garden, some cold chicken breast, lemon juice, tzaziki from the fridge and a broken up baked Turkish bread. Don't know the calories but it leaves me space for pumpkin soup tonight. It was very nice and quite a change to eat lunch on a fast day. This is an experiment, putting new life into 5:2 to keep it interesting. The main reason I have given up on diets in the past has been boredom. Is the Middle East on board yet?

I'm in today. Busy day with shopping and lots of housework, I've been putting it off as it is so hot

I'm in today too ...went a bit over TDEE at the weekend .. probably by about 200 cals or so each day but I am hoping that 7 hours cleaning the plane on Saturday and 4 hours walking around Cambridge yesterday might cancel that out

I don't really want my first summer challenge weigh in to be an up rather than a down ....

Anyway happy fasting everyone .. time to stick my head into a spreadsheet .. there has to be a more exciting way to earn a living I'm sure !

Well as discussed last week I'm checking in at the end of my day, well close to. All has gone well. I'll have an 8 cal hot chocolate later, but feeling full after lots of veggies. Good luck to everyone

I'm in today as well. I've got a lot of housework to do but right now I can't be bothered. I'll give myself a kick up the backside, get it done which will leave me time this afternoon to do some things I want to do then I'll have dinner.

What brand is the 8 cal hot chocolate? Anyone know if it is available in the UK?

I'm here today :like: didn't do well last Thursday.. I think it's my all-or-nothing mentality, as I had previously been doing Monday/Thursday fasts, starting again on a Thursday didn't quite pan out. But it's Monday today, and that means fresh start, a fresh 5:2 week. On coffee and water with fresh lemon juice til soup tonight, with a couple of eggs. Will report back later, regardless of whether or not completed as I need to stop hiding away when things don't pan out cos that just restricts me from the accessing the great support here

Well done all you Monday fasters. I'm exchanging Monday for Tuesday this week as I find it much easier to fast in the office. Had a lovely long weekend. Pleased to hear your OH is on the way home tomorrow @SallyO.
