Fasting Sunday 17th February
17 Feb 2013, 09:59
Jumping back on the bandwagon today after a fortnight off, not by choice! I was away for a few days staying in a hotel, and was happy to enjoy full English breakfasts cooked by someone else, yummy teashops and a few glasses of wine, knowing that I could fast again as soon as I got home. However on my last night I was suddenly struck down with vomiting and nasty "dire rear"! Must have lost half a stone in 10 minutes!

So I've spent the last few days recovering from that (oddly I never felt ill, just flattened), gradually increasing my intake, and I'm now ready to fast again.

Breakfast today was an extra large poached egg on a small slice of Hovis Best of Both bread with 150 ml of V8 juice, for 190 calories. I love V8 juice, so tasty and low in calories, and surprisingly filling. Lunch will possibly involve prawns and salad.
Glad you're feeling better now.
I'm fasting today too, but won't eat until tea time tonight.
This week I am trying a new approach as I'm entering my fifth week now....maybe 4th.
I lost 4 kg the first week and haven't lost since, although my waist measurement is down.
This week I'm reducing the 500 calories on fast days, and am going to stick within a couple of hundred calories of what I should be having to maintain my weight. Hopefully it will result in a weight loss on Friday when I next weigh in.
I'm enjoying the fast days as I feel better both physically and mentally.
If I can lose an average of 1 lb a week I will be more than delighted. I just want to get rid of my wobbly tummy!
Good luck with your fast day.
Starting my third week, fasting Sundays & Tuesdays. My 600 cals get used up in the evening. Need a long bike ride in the sunshine to take my mind off the wait, and get some exercise!
Good luck everyone...

Update: 22 miles on bike felt all uphill and into the wind but still avoiding the temptation to snack. Got the wife in the kitchen making the main course -in my case only course - of tonight's dinner (cheesy lentils) and I wish she would hurry up!

Pete, nearing the end of fast 5...
Me, me, me...will have wee lunch and some tea, need to think what though...
I wonder if being used to fasting makes an enforced fast due to illness easier to cope with? (not fasting today, just popped in to see who was!)
I wasn't planning to fast today but have had a lie in and only just up and not hungry. I missed a day last week with half term business and put a couple of pounds on :( so am hoping if I fast today and then tomorrow and Thursday it will kick start my weight loss back in the right direction. I'm a bit unsure how I will feel doing 2 fast days in a row but sure it will be fine. Think I will go through till teatime fasting then have some pasta and an early night.
Maybe - not sure.

I am fasting today and going to try not eating until tea time for the second time. I feel like I want to eat now though but am concentrating on keeping my fluids up today.
Count me in - Ive a bowl of homemade soup planned for later if I need it but I'm going to try & wait as long as possible since last night was a late Chinese & I last had something to eat about 9:30pm.
Sunday is my usual fast day but decided to miss it this week. I had a very early start and the potential for a very stressful day. However, it all turned out well, even managed a sleep to catch up.
I feel cheated and wish I was fasting which is interesting. I have been hungry though so really can't predict how it would have gone if I had fasted. I think I would have been very annoyed with myself if it hadn't gone well and I ended up eating.
So, will get my two fasts in this week anyway, monday and probably Wednesday.
And I think I will try to keep to Sundays. The other day is changeable, but I like my Sunday fast.
Hope everyone else has a good day.
I find Sunday perfect for fasting, with time to prepare tasty fresh salads. Myfitnesspal is a boon too, as it is easy to use on fasting days, and interesting to see the value of the foods eaten on the other 5 days. I certainly do not worry about sticking to a calorie controlled diet on the 5 days, because it is precisely what 5:2 isn't, and that is why it is so workable.
I start any day with porridge made with water, supplemented with oatbran for filling, and topped with mixed berries, and I am well full, even after visiting the gym I have no apetite. It will be late this evening before I even want to face my other 250 calories, made up of non- carbs, but I will because of my diabetic medication which I need to take. On the other five days I have my treats that I have always had, but for some reason, I take them in smaller quantities than I ever imagined I could. I love this way of nourishing my body!
Hi-
fasting today (3 this week as really indulged the other days!), hope it's going well for everyone.
Has been getting easier to handle hunger with each fast. Despite not being at work managed to distract myself all day and now we're nearly there :)
Happy today, managed to pick up a sofa and navigate IKEA on about 150 cals, only thumping OH once or maybe twice...came home, no time to do proper food so had beans on toast.
