Fast day for me, as my DH is at work all day and I also like getting up later and a few hours of the fast have already gone! Like GMH it's a day of housework planned - what joy. But at the moment it's black tea, in bed with the laptop and the sun shining through the window. Hunger pangs have not yet started!

I think I will try a fast today - inspiring and amusing reading the posts above! I have had a 'week out' due to other circumstances (was behind a 3 car head-on crash last Sunday) and feel it's now the time to get back on the wagon ...

GMH I am just about to start second Peter May (another scottish crime) and can recommend Ann Cleeves if you don't already know her books ...

Tiaremaori - will look out for those recipes ...

The house awaits ... *wavingduster*

Recipes now posted as promised. Enjoy! I have had my lunch and am looking forward to the soup plus eggs on toast for dinner. Only 2 hours to wait.

gillymary wrote: GMH I wash at the supermarket looking for low cal hot chocolate and was overwhelmed and didn't buy any so would you mind letting me know what brand you drink which has such low cals as a hot choc would just hit the spot for m at a drastic moment on a fast day, thanks

@gillymary the Jarrah Choc 'O Lait has just 45cals for a serve, but I only use half of what they say and find it's enough to make a tasty mug full. If I use the full serve it's too rich for me now. So that comes in at 23 calories and I'll be having one after dinner (fasting today).

I think Swiss Miss might be lower in calories but I feel like I'm drinking nothing more than a mug of chemicals - nothing chocolatey about it.

I'm in today as well, wasn't planning to, but had Sunday lunch at our local hotel, proper French food...5 courses for € 22, am lovely and full, not podged though as the portions weren't huge, so thought I'd try fasting till tomorrow lunchtime, see how it goes. It's normal, in this part of France to eat the main meal at lunchtime, so if it goes well today I may use the midday to midday method again. The French think we are stupid to eat our main meal in the evening then go to bed...they may have a point, although I think that if I had a 3 course lunch, with wine, every day I would sleep all afternoon, but they have a 2 hour lunch break then work till 7pm.
Chacon a son gout, I suppose

Hi all, I'm fasting today too. Usually I start on Monday but am planning to be able to eat at a work brunch on Wednesday AND this will hopefully help compensate for what I ate and drank yesterday. Not 100% happy about fasting on a weekend, but I'm not in a great mood anyway today, so why not just fast and get it over with is what I figured. Hope everyone else's day is going better. Earlier today I cleaned up the marsh/waterfront area behind our building and I am off for a walk to try to stay distracted... How unusual to be looking forward to Monday!!

Rather late joining in today! It's almost midnight but my husband and I have fasted today after arriving home late yesterday after ten days visiting daughter and grandchildren in Bielefeld, Germany. We haven't eaten too excessively while we were away but have both put four pounds back on, although I think it's probably because we were eating more carbs and therefore are retaining quite a lot of fluid. Fingers crossed that is all it is! Anyway, there wasn't any food in the house so we decided that today would be a good day to fast - so we did! Good luck to anyone who is still facing a few hours fasting. Onwards and downwards!
