Fasting Sunday, 23rd June
23 Jun 2013, 00:13
I don't particularly relish a Sunday fast, but I can't do one tomorrow (am on a panel at a conference in the afternoon and I don't want to risk being spaced out, which sometimes happens on fast days) and I am travelling this week after Tuesday. So it's today and Tuesday for me.

Mint tea for breakfast. Fish with tomato and thyme sauce and zucchini for lunch (180cals). And bowl of roast pepper and tomato soup and scrambled eggs (1 whole and 1 white) on slice of toast for dinner.

I can always have an afternoon nap if it gets too much!!

Eeek! You are brave! My weekends are pretty much sacrosanct - no fasting.

I'm a skip-breakfast-and-lunch-on-a-fast-day person: might you find it easier to just have a full meal on your Sunday evening? i.e. skip the lunch and blow-out(ish) later?

All the best, whichever way you go xxx

Edit: falling-down-juice is detrimental to one's ability to hyphenate things correctly

Thanks. I think if I don't get some food into me during the day, I will start pulling out my hair (or worse). It will be a late lunch, though and an early dinner (and then early to bed). Maybe a gentle afternoon walk to distract me.

TiareMouri you have a way with food. Your fast days menu sounds scrummy. Still cooking your garlic and cauliflower soup, it has become a family favourite. Any chance of the fish meal recipe. Have a good conference, wise move to switch

me too, normally weekends are sacrosanct, too difficult, but likewise needs must this week, still it's nearly 12md here in Queensland, so halfway there

I have to make fast days interesting with food, otherwise I could not get through them. I spend ages planning them (because the better I plan, the more likely I will stick to them).

I will definitely post the fish with tomato and thyme recipe and the roast pepper and tomato soup recipe later today. Will help distract me in the afternoon and stop me from licking the paint off the wall!

Strategy this morning is to go to the movies to see a French film and sip on black coffee by myself while kids at various activities with hubby and help. I am feeling positively "chic".

Hi:

It is not Sunday here yet, but I generally fast on Sundays.

Right now, I have just returned home from visiting a couple of my favorite pubs. Along the way, I picked up some excellent cheeses and am now eating those, with great bread and some nice wine. Tomorrow, I will fast.

I am happily losing around a pound a week, and have been for several months.

My point is - fast when you want, eat food you enjoy both on fasting and feasting days, and be patient because this is not a quick weight loss diet.

Enjoy the ride!

Cheese bread and wine sound delish, lucky you. I may have to try that during the week. I am fasting today. I am just doing 24 hour fasts of mostly water these days. If I am honest with myself I don't really need to lose weight, so doing 36 hour fasts is just too long. My focus is on the shorter fasts and eating healthy the rest of the time. My problem continues to be too much junk food in my eating window. My goals this week is to eat healthfully and have a break from the crisps.

Mystic:

Yes, I am lucky. But I am not rich or special in any other way.

I decided that if I must lose weight, I will do it on my terms. I will only eat food I thoroughly enjoy. I will not eat food just because it is required by a diet or is good for me.

5:2 allows me to lose weight on my terms.

Trust me, 5:2 is so much more than a diet.

Yes, It is so much more then a diet, you are so right. I am interested in the health benefits the documentary shows. It makes sense that we are not designed to constantly gorge in the land of plenty. I love the feast and famine approach. It makes the eating days more special then ever.

Good luck to all the fasters on a Sunday.

I'm not fasting, so I've just bitten the head of a chocolate Lindt bunny I found in the fridge.

Well I am here fasting. I love Sunday fasts because I am at home rather than driving all day. I also get up 5/5.30am week days and today I let the dogs out @ 7am, then went back to bed to finish reading the latest Quintin Jardine novel...finally surfaced at 10am! So it seems like a really short day compared to getting up at 5am. Had black coffee, veg 'souper', my friend helped me make up the 6 Ikea chairs I had bought...that took a while let me tell you! Then I had an 8 cal hot choc and opened my laptop. Oh yeah made a vegie curry which was going to be for feed days, but since eat serve is only 200 cals I'll eat some tonight too. The dirty floors are looking at me (yeah white bamboo sounded good ;>) - at least u can't see the sand!) so I must clean those and do a bit of other housework - how I hate it. I shall procrastinate a little longer...maybe take the dogs for another walk b4 dinner - on/off rain here, so need to pick my times. Before u know it my Sunday will be over and I will be lamenting how fast it went! (pun intended)

GMH I wash at the supermarket looking for low cal hot chocolate and was overwhelmed and didn't buy any so would you mind letting me know what brand you drink which has such low cals as a hot choc would just hit the spot for m at a drastic moment on a fast day, thanks

I'm throwing in an extra fast day to compensate for overeating during the midsummer weekend.
I'll do my usual 1000 calorie ( if I need that much) + extra exercise. I'm really struggling with my 500 calorie days so this is my way to still get a long period without eating but not get the feeling of starvation.

Have a lovely sunday fast!
