For a minute there I forgot you were in the southern hemisphere in the middle of winter, and since the weather is so warm here your choice of drinks sounded unappetizing.

Good luck liquid fasting, I hope it kick starts your weight loss again, and that you don't feel too cold.
Lunch date postponed so I'm in today - so far so good. More hunger pangs today that earlier in the week - is this due to eating low carb yesterday ? Surely that makes fat burning easier?
No idea about low carb thing, but maybe it's the one day in between making you hungrier if you usually do a Thursday? Saying that last week I just had hungry days most of the week, this week getting back on track the weight is flying off so maybe it'll be good to keep our bodies guessing?
My fast is going well today, all kids fed and not feeling any hunger pains today, am looking forward to eating tomorrow and might even take my own lunch in as the canteen food has been dire this week!
In today, 2nd fast of the week; I don't normally enjoy the 2nd fast when I only have a day gap between fasts which I am doing this week.
At least its a bit cooler here so had a good night sleep
Good luck all who are fasting today
Off to work soon
I've very nearly done liquids-only fasts once a week the last couple of weeks but today am signing up to do a proper no-calorie one. Not even milk in coffee/tea today.

Jacksati, agree nice to have a cooler night. After a couple of hot restless nights I slept so well I almost didn't wake up in time to go to work! Had a tepid epsom salts bath before bed too and that knocked me right out.
Yes Glassmarble it's cold alright. I've just returned from Europe and 33' to one of our coldest winters (nothing like you guys have tho). 13' in the day 4' at night.
The liquid day went quite so well so I decided to go on for another day.
Veggie juices, herbal teas and miso.
Feeling thinner - maybe mind over matter. We'll see later when I brave the scales
I'm in again today. As it's another glorious day up here again we are planning a walk along Findhorn beach this afternoon.

I'm planning to give liquid fasts a rest for a few weeks in favour of eating something like a ham and egg salad for dinner. A few weeks ago I was under a lot of stress and even though that has gone now I am still washed out and shattered. I know I need to get my white carbs sorted out - I just eat so much of it and sugar! So for the next few weeks I'm going to concentrate on getting what I put into my mouth to be a lot healthier every day and hopefully that will perk me up.
Hi everyone. I'm with you wildmissus. I definitely need to sort out the sugar and carbs thing. Why is it the easiest thing to pop into your mouth though?

Getting online is quite hard at the moment so I don't think I will be doing a Ramadan thread on its own. I think I will carry on posting here if it's still ok.

It's the second day of Ramadan and apart from a small headache I am doing really well. It's great how much 5:2 has helped. I didn't feel hungry at all but having no liquids is very hard. Pre fast, Ive been setting the alarm and just downing as much liquid as I can, but not eating anything.

I don't think I ate enough when I broke my fast though but I felt so full. Not sure how sustainable it will be or what kind of effect it will have on my weight, but I guess all that is on hold for the next month :)

We've had mixed weather here and although it's nice not to feel cold, I think I prefer to when it is hot and muggy, fasting wise anyway.

Good luck to everyone fasting today :)
Good to hear from you Umleila - I was wondering how your Ramadan had started, hope you continue to do well.

I feel a bit pants today, not like me at all. Maybe I've overdone the fasting this week, and I havent been drinking, and doing as low carb as possible, great for weight loss, but lots of changes. Going to rest this afternoon, as I've got a busy evening, then a manic weekend.
Thanks minumonline. I'm sorry your feeling pants :( Do you think it in anyway connected to the low carb intake? Anyway I hope you've had a good rest and and feel refreshed.

We've had a busy afternoon rescuing a poorly Canada Goose and time thankfully has gone quite quickly. Only three and a half hours till I break my fast yippee :)
Hello Umleila, I looked to see if you'd started a Ramadan fast thread, I spoke yesterday to a guy at work who said he was fasting and I felt all knowledgeable after your input, he has been reading about 5:2 so we had a discussion about fasting benefits! He agreed that although Ramadan was also a time to reflect it also was difficult to get the weight loss due to the meeting up and fatty foods available, but he said he's trying to be careful to add the weight loss benefits in. I've told him to watch the horizon programme too. Glad to hear so far so good for you, the no liquid thing would really be difficult for me as although I always struggle to drink enough, I do get headaches and achiness when I don't, especially in the hot weather!
Hi Mariposa. I had a migraine by the end of the day yesterday and it was not good at all. Today however has been fine apart from the fact I ate far too much when I broke my fast. This weeks weigh in I was a pound up on last week. The first week ever since starting 5:2 that I've not had a loss or at least stayed the same.

How has everyone else coped today? How did you manage with the hot weather? I spent a lot of the day inside to avoid the heat. I hope it went well for those fasting and good luck to anyone who will fast tomorrow, or today should I say as its well past midnight now :)
Have started a fast today, not sure what the plan is though as if I go right through it'll be a 4:3 week, might have dinner today but will see how I feel later! My daughter is at a birthday party for another half hour and I'm chilling out with the baby, I expect this afternoon she'll be out in the garden with the neighbours while I melt inside! She's got another party tomorrow to go to! She's only 5! Where's my party?? Umleila I wouldn't judge your weight in the short term as with your regime at the moment you are bound to be all over the place!
Oh dear, my fast was broken with a cider! Not ideal considering I've had two more and now a vodka and diet coke! Opps!
Still only liquid, mariposa! :like:
