Will have to do my low cal fast later in the week - have my son visiting ATM, which means a couple of pints (at least) tomorrow night. And I've promised him a Thai curry!

But I'll definitely do one Weds or Thurs!

Anyone else?
Morning all.

I'm in today. Had a brilliant weekend, festival, play production and after party at the Lido. But overdid the wine early evening yesterday so slept through dinner time! Starting today a bit fragile, but so happy think I'll be fine.

I managed to lose my swimming costume yesterday so was lent one by a slim woman and I got into it fine - such a wonderful feeling to be able to wear 'normal' things without anxiety

God luck all fasting today
I'm in today. I had quite a large greedy pudding last night after my dinner and my tum has been sore ever since. So I am going to give it a rest.
Good luck everyone.
Iam in today
still not back on track since my previous long weekend away. Thats after 2 fasts last week ! :frown: I put it down to the very hot weather here. My activity has reduced and drinking a lot more. Anyway it was a little cooler last night so I slept OK.
Well off to work soon.
I envy all of you who get long summer holidays. As the forecast is dry/hot weather in England for at least the next 3 weeks

Good luck all fasting today :clover:
I'm here as usual. Did some gardening earlier since the weather was nice and mild and am now trying to keep myself busy with things that need doing. Fortunately daughter will take care of cooking dinner for the rest of the family!

Minumonline, I know exactly what you mean. I am really enjoying clothes shopping again now that I can find clothes that fit me just about anywhere. I love 5:2!

Wishing everyone a successful day!
I'm in today, feeling very full after yesterday's carb overload to try and help my hangover! Looks like it's going to be a scorcher again! Good luck Monday fasters! :0)
Morning all. I am going to try my first liquid fast today. Went over my 8 hour eating window yesterday with chocolate and cider! Hope I get through OK. Good luck everyone.
I everyone hope it's going well, although it is still early. I'm just checking in to see who is here as I'm planning to have dinner tonight - taking a couple of weeks off liquid fasts to see how I feel and what effect it has on me. Planning a ham and egg salad tonight. I've been quite good at low carbing over the weekend however I have had quite a lot of strawberries and cream!
Hi all, this is my 12th week on 5:2 and I have been reading the liquid fast threads a bit. Tried it today and all was good, except I'm not sure exactly what is deemed "liquid" in this context! Had tea with milk as usual, water, a tiny amount of juice watered down 3 parts water 1 part juice, a miso soup sachet and then tonight a banana, fresh yoghurt and skim milk smoothie. Is that still classed as liquid? Easily stayed under 500 cal and don't feel hungry at all, the smoothie was very filling. I will not eat until lunch tomorrow now. Any advice gratefully received....thanks.
Back from work after a hot humid day
Drinking iced water at he moment
Hope the day is going well for everyone
Judio; there are many views on what determines a liquid fast; I think most would say only water and maybe green tea. I and some here have tea and coffee with a little milk and maybe other liquid drinks.
Other regard anything in liquid form provided they have less than 500/600 cal is a liquid fast. So its up to you
As you are not breaking the fast to 12 tomorrow, just be aware you may be well above 36hrs; if you started after dinner yesterday; which most of us have.
Good luck with your fast
Well done on your first liquid fast, it is open to interpretation! I do zero calorie, water, black coffee and diet coke, others do water only and some have soup/fruit juice. Whatever works for you I say, the main thing to consider if you're thinking of the health benefits is going as long as you can without food to prolong the benefits of the fast. Good luck for your next fast :0)
Thank you Jacksati and Mariposa, that is all helpful.

I had done water only fasts some years ago for prayer reasons, however was not sure with this WOL if that was necessary. I will see how I go on my next fast day (Thursday) if I can stick to water and teas and proceed from there. So good that this is flexible and that you can tailor it for your own needs day by day. Thanks again.
I cant believe I've completed a 35 hour liquid fast (will be 36hrs come 10.00am). I drank still and sparkling water all day yesterday and it was fine because I normally save my 500 cals to the evening. It was a little odd having nothing to eat come the evening but I had ironing to do, some home admin and the children's lunchboxes to make for the following day so I was busy.

I wont be breaking my fast until around 1pm this afternoon but I am allowing myself a treat of a cup of sweetened tea and it tastes so good. Not sure if I'll do a liquid fast again in the near future because I am already doing 16/8 on my feed days but I'm pleased I got through. And amazingly I woke up this morning and did not feel hungry and I still dont. :like:
I am still relatively new to 5:2. I did it for a few weeks, and really liked doing 36 hour liquid fasts. However, I began allowing myself higher glycemic treats on non-fast days, which lead to complete loss of control. I couldn't even get back to my low glycemic WOE. After a couple weeks of feeling out of control and disgusting/disgusted, I managed a 36 hour liquid fast yesterday and now I feel sooooo good! I broke my fast with a piece of crustless quiche this morning. I do feel hungry, but plan to do a brisk walk for an hour or so before eating anymore.

I work in a school, so I think that the lack of structure during our summer break makes it more difficult for me. But I am looking at this as a new start and am confident that I can maintain this WOE as long as I continue to follow a low glycemic WOE as well.
Second fast well underway here this week! Considered caving at lunchtime, but a trip to the canteen stopped that as the food looked very unappealing! Even managed a staff meeting with wine and nibbles and managed to abstain! Just got kiddies to bed and feeling some hunger pains which is unusual, but I'm really tired so early night tonight! Well done to all the newbies/returners, glad to read you've all done so well! :0)
