43g of carbs today :0) fasting.
No doubt more tomorrow!

930 cals today and 65g carbs.

I feel Christmas is well and truly behind me and my Valentine target is achievable.
I will be going for 700 cals tomorrow and less than 60g carbs.

Think I'll change my signature to: I miss my risottos, paellas, pastas, pizzas, but I can't eat them now.

Im interested in learning more about low carb along with the 5:2 way of eating. If it is OK, I will be following this thread and seeking out the references mentioned in posts above. The liquid fast mentioned is interesting...could you explain that one more? is it totally no calories?

28 grams for me today. Most of those in the tomatoes! But it's a fast day

@candicemarie Berries are low carb (and you can eat more), but don't sweat on an apple, I love them in salad and worth the carbs.

Oh noooo. Cauliflower rice/couscous will help you invent your own most amazing risottos & paellas. Cabbage stands in ever so well for lasagne and, when shredded, fettuccine - other veggie slithers are pretty good at that too, such as courgette. Pancakes are also a pretty good pasta substitute, e.g. my pancake pizzoccheri, and there's a goodly number of pizza-a-likes you could try on my thread.

Nah @PennyForthem, you shouldn't need to miss anything - honest, it just takes a bit of deviance :)

Thanks, will check out Fatdog's blog!

Don't know how many I have had but it cannot be many as I am on a 36 hour liquid fast, not to lose weight but in the hope I can shift some belly fat. I'm more a belly dancer than a ballet dancer these days, oh well......

Ballerina x

If anyone wants to read up on low carb, I find Mark's Daily Apple a good source of info....

Thanks Azureblue for explaining low carb tent. I will mention that for me no white carbs even on the feast days was key for weight loss for me. Carbs from fruit/veg had no ill effect. Wheat carbs cause inflammation and digestional? distress. They are also very addictive. I have been living in carb hell the past two months and aching to get back to 52 wol along with carb restriction. When I was successfully dieting I allowed one white carb treat a week such as spaghetti/pizza and that was it.

 Crikey I welcome a few newcomers then cook the evening meal back on here this ever fast moving post I'm bookmarking everything to read at some other time quite when I've no idea because I'm slow at typing slow at reading slow at taking all of this in to begin with, then actually digest it all I'm so glad @Wendy Darling @rawkaren + @Fatdog @carorees well just about anyone who posted links for all of us getting started
I knew you all had butter + cream + nuts + coconut oil + whatever else and was introducing them into my life but truthfully had no idea why!!!!
Although I started reducing my carb intake about 4/5 months ago beginning with the breakfast cereal don't have any now, right from my start of this WOL I stopped my lunchtime sandwich now put everything on a plate surrounded by loads of crunchy salads, reduced potatoes/rice /pasta only fractionally for these at the moment still have fresh fruit daily at lunchtime most days, so I need to get my head around the "other" bad carbs but won't stress about fruit for now because as I've stated many times my health issues have improved vastly since making the few simple + easy changes so I must be doing something right well plenty bedtime reading tonight.

I haven't a clue apart from white carbs either Sue but I am going to Google 'carb alternatives' as suggested by Izzy and have a look at the link suggested by Domane.

I am just really worried about doing myself some harm by cutting out so many foods. I have always thought that a healthy diet consisted of all types of foods. It seems that carbs are in everything.

Ladies...... When you counted your carbs did you use MFP? Thanks
