It is my fastiversary too! I discovered 5:2 through reading a UK women’s magazine while at the hairdressers’ last Easter and thought “this is something I could do”.

My motivation for starting however was when I took my measurements for a costume. I got quite a shock. I had been borderline-overweight most of my adult life and had been steadily putting on more weight since retiring from paid work the year before - but was in denial and wouldn’t admit it to myself until I saw those measurements!

So I began 5:2 a year ago, armed with no more information than restricting my calories to 500 for 2 days a week, and eating normally on other days. I did reduce what I was eating on non-fast days too – I realised how much extra I had been having since stopping work – but otherwise still ate “everything” and had at least one night a week where I seriously over-indulged.

Despite this, this WOE worked very well for me; as you can see from my progress tracker, the weight came off reasonably steadily. I reached my (arbitrary) goal weight after 36 weeks – average loss of 0.5kg per week.

I found the forums about last September, which have provided me with a lot of information on this WOL. I have been touched by the stories shared by many, and learnt so much from the experience and insights of others. Although I had lost quite a bit of weight before joining, the forums are what kept me going and helped me achieve my goal.

I am now the slimmest I have ever been as an adult.

I have found maintenance more tricky than when I was actively trying to lose weight – really not sure why. However, despite holidays and quite a number of days of over-indulgence, my weight has been within 2 kg of my goal weight for 5 months now, and a day or 2 of fasting generally brings my weight back to under goal.

So for me this WOL is fantastic! :D :D

Congratulations to my fastiversary colleagues and very best wishes to all on this journey. :)

Today is my Fastiversary, 1 year and I cant believe it! Still maintaining 170 lbs (+/- 3 lbs) It's been great and my plan is to stay on 5:2 indefinitely. I first learned about 5:2 from the Eat-Fast & Live Longer Horizon broadcast on local PBS. I'm now at about the same weight that I was when I came out of college back in the 80's. I fast Mon & Wed with occasional skips for holidays etc. The only side affect I deal with is poor sleep on fast days but have figured out ways to deal with it. It's been very helpful to have this site and I want to say thanks to all that support it, you know who your are ! Good luck to those who are still working toward maintenance and new comers as well !.

One year today I did my first fastday in the hope of being able of doing 2 days per week.
As the saying goes the rest is history to many of you as you've travelled my journey alongside me. Thank-you for your company, tips, help, advice, laughs and just as important your friendship, I won't bore you again because last weeks post at my "51 weeks ago" said everything about my journey, add that to my successful trial results last week with @Debs  resulting in a very good loss to kick my 4 month plateau into touch and bringing my first year to a close with absolutely amazing results leaving me a truly happier healthier fitter person having lost very close to 4 stones, actuall=212lbs and a very noticeable almost 7inches/17cm off my waist
RSVP::: Would love you all to join me on the second phase of my journey
My thanks go to all of you, far to many to mention, obviously carorees+moogie and my fasting buddies.
