Fastonbury Glamping Grounds

Hello

It seems a few people on the forum enjoy getting away and spending the night under canvas or in a tin box, so I thought I'd set up a large tent with awning, light the BBQ and invite everyone in for a chat. ( apologies if this is a repeat of an already erected tent, but I couldn't find anything)

Share your tips, share campsite knowledge, tell a camping tale or two, the funnier the better, or just hang out with a Luke warm glass of something.

We are a VW family and own a T25 & a Gipsy ( also have a bug but it's too small to sleep in!) we have travelled a fair few miles in the Bus and have ventured into France with her, had to push her onto the ferry, but we made it. The Gipsy is in the process of being readied for the coming VW festival season - Camperjam here we come.

So if you wanna come on over for a chat please do.
Great idea for a tent. I will come inside for a chat with my bottle of warm fizz occasionally. We did have a tin box (archway , corner sofa with shower room) a very nice one about 11 yrs ago. But sold it due to rubbish UK weather and the fact that we still felt the need to get on a plane to seek warmer climates.

Hope to get a camper can and go on sabbatical one day.
Thanks for putting up this tent Minsmum. How did we not have a camping tent on our Glampsite, I don't know :)

That's just in time for me as we are going camping to Snowdonia this weekend. The weather forecast doesn't look promising, but unless it's heavy rain throughout, we're still going.

Tent camping is our favorite holiday and we're out there once or twice a year at least.

So far we are happy owners of Outwell Birdland 3 (now Birdland S). This time round an extension to the tent will be on a try out.
Can I come in :) I used to go camping every year as a child. Before I got married (and divorced) I went travelling around europe for 6 months in a caravan and now Me and my current partner converted a van into a campervan last year. We have all mod cons in there. Cooker, fridge, toilet, shower etc. Love going away in the campervan. We are off to download festival in a few weeks to stay in it. (will also probably consume a years worth of cals in alcohol too  )
I used to camp as a child under canvas every summer and was lucky that my husband loved camping too although his childhood was spent in a VW T2 Danbury conversion. We camped together before kids then got bigger and bigger tents as our family grew. My favourite sites are in France.in recent years we hung up the tent pegs for indoor self catering apartments but the canvas is calling us again. This weekend we are camping at a Christian music festival..soo excited.
Ok, so, another tin box owner coming out to you here! We have a Bailey Pageant (fixed bed, 4 berth) van, which we've used a lot but since DS has reached teenagerhood, he doesn't want to go with us and we're struggling to justify it sitting on the drive not being used. We may sell it in the spring and think about getting a camper van for just the two of us as we fancy taking one on tour to the Continent. First though the old van needs to be a spare bedroom at Christmas when we'll be having a crowd to stay!
Another tin tenter here! We have a Bailey Unicorn, fixed bed, single axle and we try and spend 3 weekends out of 4 on Anglesey. I cannot make chutney in the tin tent, so it's my refuge!! it's also a great environment with 3 Springers.
Looking forward to hanging out with you all x
The Tents are a new thing since I was last on the forum. Can I join?

We (hubby and 3 teenagers) are of to camp in Derbyshire over the Bank Holiday weekend - you can tell because of how dreadful the forecast is

No tin boxes for us, always canvas with no hook-up, it make you appreciate home when you get back
Great to see so many campers out there, time to light the fire and get the marshmallows out :)
@Philxjr you did your own conversion....cool, we have all mod (haha) cons in the Gipsy which is a step up from the bus! Do you stick to campsites or do you wild camp?
We did a two week tour wild camping for most of the way, stopping at campsite occasionally for a shower etc. one memorable stop turned out to be the local dogging site! Had a load of eager taxi drivers waiting for us to do the biz. We politely declined and closed the curtains!
Hello from sunny Spain where we're staying in our caravan on a campsite for three months. We have an Eldiss Odyssey with fixed bed, all mod cons and even WiFi! Much more luxurious than a tent but have many happy memories of tenting holidays with the children when we were younger. Still managing to do 4:3 here and have had to go to the market to buy new clothes!Feeling good!
Oh yes mifi, we have mifi. Essential in a Welsh field!

We do mainly campsites, sometimes we you caravan and camping club CS sites which are small farms. We have stayed down on the seafront once or twice with friends overnight after a BBQ and a few beers. Other than that not really done any wild camping although friends tell us its good. I have just calmed by laughter down to a smile from you dogging experience lol Whoops :)
Well the sky is grey, the heating is on, a howling wind has kept us awake all night ......... must be a perfect day to set out for Bank Holiday weekend camping in Derbyshire. I hope I own enough socks and gloves to see me through!

LOL

And it is pouring with rain here as well...
We're back! The 6th load of washing is in, some of the previous loads are dry. I think I might set up a ski resort on the ironing pile that has developed.

We had a fab time: the weather was revolting; two out of three air beds had leaks; dd#1 poured her glass of orange juice over my bag (3 tops & 4 towels sticky and stained) on the Friday night; ds threw up everywhere on the final night.

But ....... the sun shone for us to strike camp, so we have packed a dry tent away until next time.
