Forum & Progress Tracker Help

Afternoon all :)

Over the last week I've been working on some additional charts for the forum stats on the progress tracker, with help from dominic & carorees. Thanks you two!

I'm pleased to announce the latest additions are now live!

  • The forum stats should now load somewhat more quickly. I hope to improve on this further when time allows. To facilitate this speed up, the data is compiled twice a day, so please be aware that the stats are not in 'real time' as such. The time of the last data compilation is included at the top of the page.
  • New chart - Week by Week Weight Loss showing the mean & median weight lost over the first 6 months on the diet. Here you can see the higher initial loss leading down to steady losses. No sign of a plateau yet! This chart will also display data from your selected filter groups as well.
  • Accuracy data for the new week by week chart. In order to keep the data as accurate for the week by week chart as possible, some 'long term data' has been excluded (eg where a user has entered an initial weight and only updated a long while after, meaning the actual loss during the first few weeks cannot be accurately calculated). To give an indication of the accuracy of the data, points where minimal data has been used are marked on the line graphs. You'll see the lines tend to be less 'stable' around these areas, they should come out better with more data. You can also check how many users' data has been included in the week by week data in the bar graph below it.

Various other little tweaks have been made to try to speed things up. I'm sure the change to twice-daily data as opposed to real-time is a small price to pay for the week by week graphs, which really give a great idea of how the weight loss can be expected to progress for different groups.

The old topic about the tracker has now been locked, but can be found here for your reference. Any problems or queries please post them in the Help Forum.

Enjoy!
Hi Moogie. The new Progress Tracker is great ! Many thanks to you, Dominic and Caroline for this new addition and for all of the work you have put into this site for the benefit of so many.
Does anyone doing the tracker find it really helps?
What happened in the data at weeks 9 and 10 for the overall stats on the average weight loss week by week? There is a huge jump. :)

Yes, it's a graph so you can visualise your weight-loss. Plus see what is reasonable for your demographic.

Plus I didn't realise what % of my target loss I'd achieved and it made me happy to find out I was a fifth of the way there! :D

It's explained above the graph, those are points marked as less accurate (the little squares denote this, and it can also be seen by looking at the userdata per week bar graph below it), due to the low amount of stats available for those weeks.

To keep the data as accurate as possible, some of the data provided by users has been omitted from this particular graph because of the way the numbers are calculated. ie, if a user didn't provide regular stats for the first couple of months on the diet, that initial period would be calculated as the total loss for those months divided up by days/weeks. While this does give an overall weekly average, it skewed the week by week stats as it doesn't accurately represent the larger initial losses. Hence omitting them.

As more data becomes available in the tracker the charts should be more accurate around these areas.

Makes me wish I'd kept track of my loss for those first few months, I just couldn't face making a record of those horrible numbers even though they were going down!
Thanks Moogie for all your good work on this! I really appreciate it, and enjoy looking at these figures. Wish there were somee way to encourage more people to use the tracker. For me, it serves as another incentive to stick with this, looking forward to entering my next numbers and seeing the progress!
Looking good Moogie! Thanks for all your hard work on this. :P
Hi Moogie, I've just joined the forum and am looking forward to seeing how others are doing on the Fast Diet. I'm particularly interested to see how the other guys on the forum are getting along! - I think I'll also give the tracker a go. Cheers :)
Hi Moogie
I'm a Forum newbie, been on the 5:2 diet (successfully) for 3 weeks and really looking forward to using the progress tracker.

This is brilliant. A fantastic resource. So glad I've found it. Thank you :)
I agree, a really useful resource! Thanks for all the effort you've put into developing it Moogie.
I have a suggestion about the progress tracker but not sure how sensible/doable it is.

I wonder if it is possible/sensible to be able to mark weeks as being 'holiday' such that they may appear on your personnel plot but would be removed from the statistical plots as they are not likely to be representative of the weight loss(/gain!) for that week in general.
Does it automatically take everybody's data to tracks the whole groups weight loss? Or do you have to click on something to allow it to include your data?
I want mine to be included, do i have to do something or is it all ready included??
Sorry im new and still trying to work things out. :)
