Hi all :)

Seeing as how The Fast Diet has just launched in the USA, I felt it might be a good idea to change to a .com domain name for this site to make it seem a bit more international and welcoming to non-Brits!

EDITED TO REMOVE NEW DOMAIN FOR LEGAL REASONS (we're not allowed to use it).

Both domains will still work and point to the forums, so you can still use the old domain. I just think it will look more internationally inviting on Google with the new domain.

I hope to swap the domains over in the next day, so my apologies if the site is temporarily inaccessible during this time!
Great idea! Do we know when the Horizon doc is being shown in the US? When do we have to brace ourselves for a boost in membership?
I think the doc is airing sometime this Spring, but MM has been on the news over there this morning promoting the book, and there was the feature on ABC Nightline last night - so I guess it's going to be all over the American press in the next few weeks.
*rolls up sleeves and prepares for work*
If it's being shown in America, I wonder if it will be possible to download it. I really like to watch the Horizon documentary every now and then as it's so inspiring.
If you're familiar with downloading Torrents then there is already a way to download it. Personally I don't class it as piracy when it's not available to buy on DVD/Bluray and the Beeb have kindly removed it from iPlayer!
Thanks for doing this!

Also, Here's a link to the bbc documentary, with subtitles (slovak, maybe?)

Hopefully I'll find a moment when there aren't many users online so I can do the changeover without disrupting too many people's browsing! I don't expect it'll be more than 10 mins or so downtime. Maybe tomorrow morning when everyone's having a Saturday lie-in!
Oh pants, it looks like I have to get the server hosts to do this, the option on my control panel is disabled >.<;;
Okay, the site's domain has now been changed! You'll still be able to use all the old 52fastdiet.co.uk links.

Apologies if you've just been logged out and had to log in again, it was a part of the changeover.

All seems to have gone smoothly :)
Argh!

I just had an email telling me that we need to change the domain name back, something to do with copyright and avoiding lawyers. Poo!
This domain name is better, IMHO - a fitting home for the community :)

EDIT - No way, you need to change it back? That's pretty surprising. Whose lawyers? What a pain
It's a shame, I liked the new domain better too, but I do appreciate having had the pre-emptive email before any legal bods got involved.

Guess I'd best remove all references to the new domain name now, and hope my server host sorts the swtich-back soon.

We'll get a new .com domain soon (shame I have to spend out on yet another one, if I'd known that one was a problem I would have saved myself the tenner!), with a little legal advice about what is acceptable.
What a shame. Still it would be good to have 5:2 as well as fast diet in the name do you think?
We may not be able to use 'fast diet', but I guess I won't know until sometime in the week when the laywers have looked. Hopefully we won't have to change the main domain name, that would be even more of a pain in the bum (not to mention further expense).

If we're very lucky we might be allowed to use the .com afterall. I've added in some disclaimers on the site about not being part of the official site and have removed the link to the official site to avoid any confusion.
