Setting up new smilies
04 Mar 2013, 09:58
I'm adding a load of new & replacement smilies this morning so please bear with me if any of the smilies stop loading properly meanwhile!

Thanks :D

Hi Moogie

Not entirely sure about these new smilies. Perhaps it's my phone but I can't tell what most of them are. The lol one no longer looks like someone laughing and the roll one doesn't seem to roll its eyes. The big smile isn't that big, and the oops one is hard to find!

Perhaps its just me but I preferred the old ones (sorry).

Sorry Moogie

I'm with Carorees on this. I have to keep hovering over them to find out which is which - and I'm on a MacBook. The old ones were better, IMO.

But even better are these on Wildfood I PM'd you about:

I think there's a real need for a 'hug' smiley - and the thumbs up one would be useful. :like:

I have to say I'm not convinced by the new smilies either. Most of them look pretty cross (as I'm feeling after reading that stupid article on iVillage...)

Sorry guys, I've been meaning to come up with a midsized version as the original larger ones just made the posts a bit too disjointed by forcing the linespace to increase wherever they were included. I reckon if I can make them a size imbetween they'll be alright.

B&W - there wasn't actually a link in your PM and I had meant to message you back but things got kinda busy ;) There are actually huge smilies and all sorts in this set if you click to view all the smilies.

I'll see about resizing them as they looked great when they were full sized.

The ones in your link look like the old ones but with a few useful extras. They'd get my vote!

I've always hated the default phpBB smilies >.<;; I'll keep looking for other potential sets, meanwhile am just cropping the others down a little as resizing failed but they're all on a canvas a little larger than necessary.

Am also looking out for some nice new forum/topic icons to smarten the place up a bit :)
