SOS! New scales shock horror!
02 Apr 2013, 10:15
Well, we had a new bathroom fitted so we got some new scales too, posh digital ones. I have to admit I had my doubts about the old mechanical scales - if you shifted your position slightly you could weigh several pounds more or less! And maybe I was guilty of taking the lower reading ...... Anyway, the new scales are much less forgiving - and consistently show my and OH's weight as 7lbs more than we thought. A whole half stone!!

I want to be honest about this and record my real weight in the Progress Tracker from the beginning, but is it possible to change the record like this?

I'm trying not to be too discouraged - after all, I have lost weight, I just have a bit further to go than I thought. :curse:
hi
we had the same problem and just resolved to start from the new reading, luckily the difference wasnt too bad - 5lbs i think but with the new scales i can measure in ounces too so tracking even an extra 1/2lb loss is doable now

hope you find a way to change your tracker

We bought a pair of scales from Aldi on Saturday. They're supposed to weigh/calculate body fat as well. I say supposed, because they keep coming up with an error message.
They weigh all over the place, too - in consecutive readings, I weighed 12.12, 13.02 and 13.6.
They're going back!
emeken: Sorry to hear your new scales have been unkind :(
If you need your starting stats changed let me know what you want them set to. You can modify your individual weigh-in stats yourself via the tracker.
Oh emeken, how depressing! I don't suppose that reminding you that the weight lost is still the same? Nah, didn't think so.

Hope your new bathroom is lovely though.
All this only goes to show that scales are a guide to weight.
As a Nurse I know I should always weigh my patients on the same scales because of variances in munifacture - let alone standing position.
Besides weight fluctuates by +/- 5lbs so why shouldn't the readings be differ on different pairs of scales.
Throw out the scales and get a tape measure. It might be more accurate - but then you need to know how to find the waist etc!
Have fun,
Peter
7 lb? You're lucky...I just got new scales and they weigh over a stone heavier!!! :-o
Blimey Caroees - i'd swap back to the old ones with that amount of difference. eek
