Introduce Yourself!

Our Frequently Asked Questions topic will answer many of your fasting & weight loss questions!

If you're new and have a question or need some advice, please give us as much information as you can about your situation in order for us to be able to help you as best we can. For example, it's helpful to know your BMI/weight, how much you want to lose, any medical conditions which might affect your weight and (if you've started fasting already) how you do your fasts in terms of splitting up your calories, what you eat etc. Thanks!

Howdy From Texas!

Greetings from Texas, and thanks for adding me. I'm pleased to meet you and I look forward to insights, tips and ideas from what seems like a great forum for IF. I'm about 2.5 weeks into AD method and while I can't say the weight is just sliding off of me, there are still some great things about this method that I especially like. I'm down 4 pounds to date, but feeling strong enough to continue for a good while yet.

Thanks Tracieknits, and I'm encouraged to see your mention of thyroid, because I'm hypo, and in the reading/watching I did prior to attempting IF - I saw one source say that "it may not be for those with a thyroid condition." So I was a little disheartened at that. But looks like you are succeeding (And quite nicely! Wow, congrats!!) despite a thyroid issue, so I'm that much more encouraged to keep trying.

My new endocrinologist is a big fan of intermittent fasting and eating windows and is thrilled that I use these methods - he also recommended the dietdoctor.com site that strongly encourages intermittent fasting and eating windows. My former endocrinologist admitted he didn't know much about it but was encouraging. So I'm not sure who said it was not for thyroid disorders, but I'm not sure it was a medical authority. I remember when I was hypothyroid, I would get super shakey if I didn't eat. But once I was diagnosed and medicated, I feel that intermittent fasting helped calm and regulate my thyroid.

Hopefully the forum will be more active once school is back in session and people fall back into their regular habits.
