Introduce Yourself!

Our Frequently Asked Questions topic will answer many of your fasting & weight loss questions!

If you're new and have a question or need some advice, please give us as much information as you can about your situation in order for us to be able to help you as best we can. For example, it's helpful to know your BMI/weight, how much you want to lose, any medical conditions which might affect your weight and (if you've started fasting already) how you do your fasts in terms of splitting up your calories, what you eat etc. Thanks!

INTRODUCTION

Hi everyone. Just made a commitment last week to start this way of living to accommodate some health issues. Having never dieted, i have a healthy fear of being so ravenous that i may eat anything thats walking past on my fast days. So am going to try one day Monday which i will try to fast for the first month and then add a second day in the next month. I am also adding some pilates, walking and yoga to the mix. It will be an interesting journey. I hope i can stay committed and writing this kinda binds me into a contract with myself. So thanks 5 and 2 diet community. I hope i too can be one od the people that says i lost a kilo this week soon. [incompatible emoji removed]

Welcome Sabrina!

I too, had never dieted before trying 5:2....

As mentioned to Mark in another thread, hunger is quite transient. Ignore it (by keeping busy) and it'll go away. Sipping coffee, tea, water (and something salty like bouillon or a stock drink) can be quite helpful.

Mild exercise during fasting has been shown to retain lean muscle mass - a good thing. Feeling a bit tired during exertion for the first week, or so, is a normal part of the process; your body needs the time to adjust.
