HI Everyone,

I am a relative newcomer to IF. I am a 67 year old woman with T2D. I have been following LCHF and having limited success. I've decided to incorporate intermittent fasting in my Way Of Eating to see if things improve. I lost 56 lbs last year, gained back 6 and have plateaued for the last 6 months. I hope to learn from the members of this forum and share my fasting experiences both positive and negative with you.

I am not quite sure what the exact definition of fasting is. There are so many.

Welcome to the forum, @Tusnelda!

Sounds like you are doing well, having lost that much weight already.

I think plateaus are something that happen to everyone. If you can even maintain the 56 lb loss without regaining, then you're ahead of most people. It's been a rocky journey for some of us. I've been doing this roughly five years. I'm currently at a 65lb loss. I tend to lose a chunk in a few months, then struggle with maintaining for quite a while. Then I suddenly lose a chunk again and then I'm back to plateau/maintain. All in all the direction is down, so I'll take it!

Hi and welcome! :)

Congratulations on your weight loss so far, low carbing is a great option especially for T2D - and it works well in conjunction with intermittent fasting.

There are various ways of fasting that you could try, but I would definitely recommend consulting with your doctor before embarking on any of them.
