Introduce Yourself!

Our Frequently Asked Questions topic will answer many of your fasting & weight loss questions!

If you're new and have a question or need some advice, please give us as much information as you can about your situation in order for us to be able to help you as best we can. For example, it's helpful to know your BMI/weight, how much you want to lose, any medical conditions which might affect your weight and (if you've started fasting already) how you do your fasts in terms of splitting up your calories, what you eat etc. Thanks!

We're near the end of our second fast day, and it's not easy, but I think we'll be able to live with this.

I have some raspberries saved up so I won't be going to bed with a loud, angry stomach :-)

We're in our 40's in Saratoga Springs, NY and I found an article about Dr. Mosley and this diet in the US version of the Guardian.co.uk I remember I used to have a coworker who lost over 100 pounds "dieting every other day" and I remember she said she did it because it confused her metabolism. She had a lot of things she didn't allow her self to eat on diet days, like carbohydrates. I remember thinking it was absurdly complicated! But it worked for her.

Tuesday was our first fast day and I was very pleasantly surprised by how the fact I did not want to gorge myself with food on Wednesday :-)
Welcome, friends from across the sea! I'm really glad to see that the .co.uk domain hasn't put international members off joining. I considered a .com but most of the good ones were taken!

Well done on starting this lifestyle, and thanks to BruceE for supporting his wife by doing it alongside! I have to cook a normal meal for my husband on my fast days, which is why I prep my fast meals and have them on standby in the freezer! Though usually hubby will have a pizza or burger or something easy like that which he sees as a treat!

Raspberries are great aren't they? So low cal and so tasty - a perfect treat!

So many of us find we're not ravenous the day after a fast, I actually really look forward to my fast days now, as much as look forward to a feed day when I'm fasting! Sometimes I throw in an extra day just because I feel like it, which is odd because I really love my food. It's certainly changed the way I think, and my life in general.

Enjoy your new lifestyle! :D
Well we aren't typical Americans. I'm a bit of an anglophile, and I get my news from Guardian.co.uk because it's better than American media outlets, imho. To be honest, I'm not sure if anyone on this side of the pond has heard of this type of fast or Dr. Varaday's research. But I got a friend of mine from college also joining in, and another very interested. So we'll see.

And yes, it's definitely easier to have hubby commiserate with me. No fun to go to bed hungry alone!
