I'm a newbie to 5:2

Hello All,

Yes another newbie. Looks like there is fantastic support here which is really encouraging for someone just starting this way of life!

I'm 50 and tried every diet from Atkins to Weight Watchers. What really appeals about this way of eating is it doesn't cost you a penny, and it could probably end up as a money saver on the shopping bill.

Today is my first fast day and I've had nothing to eat just yet as want to hang on as long as possible before having any food. I've got food planned out for the day so know exactly what I have for my 500 calories, and the longer I hold out the more I can eat later! I'm planning an early night as I fear being near the fridge if hunger kicks in!

Here's to a healthier slimmer summer :)

Hi Jackie & welcome!

Well done on starting 5:2, I'm sure you'll find it a lot simpler & easier than Atkins & WW. I've tried all sorts too and have yo-yo'd most of my life - but this really feels like something I can stick to.

Great plan to keep going a slong as possible without food, there's been a few discussions on it here and many of us find it easier waiting until dinner time so we can have a good sized meal. Personally I find any little bit of food on a fast day gets my appetite going so I'm best on water all day until dinner.

Hope the rest of your day goes well :) I'd usually be fasting on a Thursday but swapped to Wednesday this week as I'm out to dinner tonight. Feels odd not fasting today - actually feels like a Friday!
