Hello I'm new

Hello

Just starting my second fast day.

I felt a bit light headed and got a headache after my first one so I'm hoping this one goes better.

I work nights so I'm fasting from 1pm to 1pm. Does anyone else use this approach?

Rach x

Hi Rachey and welcome to the forum and to 5:2!

Funnily enough someone else was asking a v similar question earlier today so the best thing is to direct you to that topic which is here.

I think there was another thread about shift working and 5:2, if you search for it from the Advanced Search (near top left) you should find it.

Good luck and happy Valentine fasting!

Hello Rachey!

I'm not using your fasting pattern although I think that there are others on here who are doing something similar.

I just wanted to ask if you are sure that you are drinking enough fluids on your fast days? From reading other people's posts, it seems that not drinking enough can give rise to headaches. We take in quite a lot of fluids in our foods, so cutting down on what we are eating means that we have to ensure that we take in more than enough to compensate. The other advantage is that it fills you up too!

I hope that your second fast day goes well. Let us know how you get on.

Finished my second fast day yesterday and it went so much better than the first.
StowgateResident, your advice about drinking more got me through. I had SO many hot drinks, but didn't get the headaches this time.
I also decided to have all my 500 calories in one meal and so went 20 hours without eating anything at all. This worked much better for me so I think I will try this again next time.

Thanks for the advice! My next fast day is going to be monday so I'll up-date on how that goes
:)

I'm very pleased that it helped and that your second fast day went so well! I eat all my calories in the evening because I find that if I eat breakfast, I then want to keep eating, whereas if I just don't start it is much easier. I think it is just a case of trying things until you find what works for you. I look forward to hearing how you go on Monday. It's my weigh in tomorrow morning, so I am hoping for a loss of some sort - anything would do!
