Hello!

Hi Guys

I am on my first week of fasting, today is my second day and I am saving my 500 cals for my evening meal as I did on the first day. I feel if I ate at breakfast it would kickstart my body and make me hungry again hence why I eat just the once.

Anyway I just wanted to say hi! :)

Hello, Louie

Well done on your first week. I hope that you find this site as useful and welcoming as I have done. I am in my third week and completed my sixth fast yesterday. In my first two weeks, I lost 7.5lb and my husband lost 5.5lb. Weigh in is on Sunday morning, so I should know then how I have done this week!

All the best with your new WOE (way of eating) or WOL (way of living), as some people prefer to call it. Keep us informed on how you do.

Hi Louie and Welcome! :D
This is my 1st week too, I had my 2nd Fast day yesterday (Mon & Fri fit me best I think, although may have an occasional tinker if my social life takes over).
So far so good and I like how it fits in easier than the usual diets that have me pulling my hair out in a short space of time. I feel sure I can cope with this far easier. I have set myself a monthly weigh-in and o/h has hidden the scales so I don't cheat (who moi!)
Good Luck to you hon x

Hi everyone

I joined this forum today but have been trying 5:2 since the start of Jan in order to lose some added Xmas pounds and to kick start weight loss again.I lost 4 stone and reached a plateau before Xmas. It seems to be working. I have lost the 5lbs I gained over my 2 week Xmas break. I finished this weeks fast at 12.30 today, weighed myself this morning and dropped another 2 lbs. I am trying different start times and found that 12.30 lunch to 12.30 the following lunch suits me. I have a set 30min lunch break at work and this way my fasting takes place at home. Tues and Thurs are my days. This is only 24 hours though, having read some posts on here I wonder if I am getting enough hours fasting to be of benefit. (I am not used to forums so excuse me if I haven't followed correct way in posting this)

Hello Chris

Well done on your first post. (it's fine by the way) What an excellent weight loss before Christmas and well done for getting straight back to it! I have only being doing 5:2 for three weeks and it seems to be working fine for me too.

I wouldn't get too hung up on how long your fasts are - the whole idea is to adapt this WOE (way of eating), or WOL (way of living), to suit yourself. It seems to me (and I'm no expert) that if your primary purpose is to lose weight, then the jury still seems to be out on how long fasts should be. The idea is that fasting twice a week reduces your average calorie intake throughout a week down to a level where you will lose weight. So, if what you are doing works for you, then why change it?

Many of those people who are into this for the other, as yet unproven, health benefits tend to try to fit longer or more frequent fasts into their week because there is some evidence that this may provide an increased range of opportunities to improve aspects of their health. There are a number of people on the forum who have a great deal of knowledge in this area so look out for their posts - carorees is one of them and it is always worth reading what she has to say.

Some of us would like to do both of these things. I am hoping to lose just over a stone and reduce my cholesterol level and BMI. I hope you have entered your weight loss data on the Progress Tracker. Having a graph showing a downward trend is so rewarding!

Good luck with your new WOE. Keep us informed on how you are doing.

Hi Louis, I'm new too :) Good luck with the 5:2, I'm doing similar to you, saving my 500cals for one evening meal, it's working better for me than having two meals i think.
