Introduce Yourself!

Our Frequently Asked Questions topic will answer many of your fasting & weight loss questions!

If you're new and have a question or need some advice, please give us as much information as you can about your situation in order for us to be able to help you as best we can. For example, it's helpful to know your BMI/weight, how much you want to lose, any medical conditions which might affect your weight and (if you've started fasting already) how you do your fasts in terms of splitting up your calories, what you eat etc. Thanks!

Hi Everyone! :D

As the title suggest I am new here and new to 5:2. I am preparing to start on Monday but wish for support and advice before I embark on this 'life-changing' positive in my life. (I hope or if it doesnt work I would really feel like a failure) :o

I am on page 77 of The fast diet of Dr Micheal Mosley and Mimi Spencer's book. I have also watched HORIZON which is the first time I heard of this but thought there wouldnt be anything in paperbag yet as it was quite new until I bought this book. I am convinced and highly motivated(at the moment! haha)

I am 39, around 5' 1",65kg & B.M.I of 26.5 (Weighed 4th February 2013)
My Desired Weight is 50kg.

My weight loss history is terrible. I have tried almost everything with little success. Some with no weight loss at all (Dukan)and some just couldnt stay on it as it wasn't doable (long fasting, atkins etc)

I'm trying to incorporate exercise (as I'm finding love in dancing again) and trying to love myself and not let myself go. As you probably can pick up I am an emotional eater ( when I'm bored, happy, sad, angry, anxious... you name it! lol ) I have lost and gain weight so much so that some people look forward to seeing me just to see if I have gained or lost weight. Its really messing with my head and self esteem as well as my bank account! My huge concern is insomnia and binge-ing! :(

My first question is I want to know if its a good idea to start this new-me on a work-exercise day (in that order). Will it be too much for my 1st day?

Ok I wrote too much... *just press submittttttttt*
Hi Bikini and welcome! :)

A lot of people find it easier to fast at work as they don't think about food so much when they are busy.

As for exercising, many people find that they have more energy on fast days, although the first few fast days are harder and you may find that it would be better to settle in to your fasting routine before exercising on fast days.

Anyway, this way of living is about finding what works for you so experiment and find a way forward that suits you. :)
