Introduce Yourself!

Our Frequently Asked Questions topic will answer many of your fasting & weight loss questions!

If you're new and have a question or need some advice, please give us as much information as you can about your situation in order for us to be able to help you as best we can. For example, it's helpful to know your BMI/weight, how much you want to lose, any medical conditions which might affect your weight and (if you've started fasting already) how you do your fasts in terms of splitting up your calories, what you eat etc. Thanks!

Newbie to 5:2
17 Feb 2013, 16:24
Hi All

Started the new 5:2 regime on Friday (15th Feb) after realising that as I am fast approaching my 59th birthday I needed to ensure that I reduce my weight , cholesterol and blood pressure if I am to enjoy my retirement years.

Found the restricted way of eating manageable as I kept it in mind that it was only for one day and I could eat normally the next day. What I found though really amazed me as I couldn't manage my normal portions of food on Saturday and on working out my daily intake of calories for Saturday they totalled around 1500. My portions had actually become "normal" without even consciously trying. Is this what others have experienced?

I am certainly intrigued by this lifestyle and have no qualms about adopting this as a away of life and hope to reap the benefits detailed in all the books and articles I have read. Fast day 2 tomorrow and I'm looking forward to it :D
