Introduce Yourself!

Our Frequently Asked Questions topic will answer many of your fasting & weight loss questions!

If you're new and have a question or need some advice, please give us as much information as you can about your situation in order for us to be able to help you as best we can. For example, it's helpful to know your BMI/weight, how much you want to lose, any medical conditions which might affect your weight and (if you've started fasting already) how you do your fasts in terms of splitting up your calories, what you eat etc. Thanks!

Hi
I am currently ignoring my grumbling tummy, but feeling really excited about seeing some positive results. Husband and I are on day one - something's got to give in the weight loss department and it needs to happen soon!
I've dieted successfully on weightwatchers, but i cannot stand the fact that every waking moment is consumed by thinking about food - can i eat this, how many points is that, how many points have i got left etc. So I'm looking forward to this being 'the one' for me.
I put back all the weight i'd lost on ww

Can i just make sure that i'm doing this right? Had my last meal last night at 7, had smoked salmon and a scrambled egg at 9am this morning, and planning on having the rest of my cals with dinner at 7pm. Just drinking green tea and water until then (and a coke zero but i think it's making me hungrier)
Sounds about right.
I'm on a fasting day today, I last ate about 7pm Sunday night and since then I've had nothing (now 1640)
I've never really been a breakfast person so that makes it easy for me to skip brekkie.
The only thing I've had today is a cup of tea with skimmed milk and 1 sugar (cals counted in my daily intake) and a Pink Lady Apple....plus plenty of water.

Tonight I will probably knock up a vegetable stir fry with a splash of sauce to taste and then nothing else until tomorrow morning.

If you can lay off the Coke Zero I understand your better to as the sweetner works against weightloss

If you find your first day tough, the fasting days get easier the more you do, I hardly even think about it now.

What is really surprising for me is that the day after a fasting day......I'm not really hungry then either....thought I'd be ravenous....but no, far from it.

Always weigh yourself after a fasting day, I do Tuesday mornings first thing then not again till the following week.

Hope this helps and good luck, loads of great help on this site.
Sounds about right to me Sambrydon (though not sure about CokeZero) - hope you've not found it too much of a struggle on your first day. It DOES get easier, I think most people on here will agree with that. I've done Weightwatchers too a couple of times over the years - this is SO much easier - and with all the other possible benefits too - not just weight loss :D.
I was calorie counting for about 6 months before I discovered 5:2 - I've lost 3st in total - it's definitely working for me. Good luck - hope it all goes well for you too
Thank you both for replying. I'll give the coke zero a miss from now on, it'll do me good as it's a bit of a habit!

I'm finding it ok so far, the grumbles have lasted longer since I got home from work though which is what i expected. I'm a teacher so I'm on half term, it'll be interesting to see how i manage a fast day at work with the biscuit temptation in the staffroom. It is suprising how easy it is - I've always been 'scared' of being hungry, and I am a comfort eater. To realise that hunger isn't actually that bad, and that because I haven't stuffed myself on chocolate and biscuits I'm not going to get the shakes from a sugar dip, it's an eye opener! Lets just hope that I stick to it!
