Hello I'm new :) Over 60 and have loads to lose. I've avoided diets for the last few years, as I seem to put it all back on within a year. This seems different and more likely to work for me, I do hope so as for health reasons I do need to lose at least 4 stone.

Hope I'm doing this right. Last night last ate at 9pm. Went through to 1pm today, just having lots of water and hot lemon. Then a salad with 2 hard boiled eggs and a small pear. Marigold bouillon drink in afternoon. A slimfast at 5pm. Another pear and another bouillon.

I need to get more organised and replace the slimfast by a proper meal. i'm veggie, so may be a quorn chilli with loads of veg and no rice.

Feeling hungry but ok. I will make a butternut squash soup (WW) for the next fast day. Probably will try 5-2 at first. So hope this works.

Great site, good luck to all newbies.
Hi sunflowersuffolk and welcome! :)

Sounds like you're doing it right to me.
I am new and hope to also survive my first day tomorrow, still trying to take it all in :D
Well done sunflowersuffolk - that's the first day under your belt then, as they say. good luck tomorrow cockaduck - the world is your oyster - hope it goes well for you. I'm fasting tomorrow too, so may see you elsewhere on the forum for encouragement :)
Hi cockaduck, (+ Suchard + Jemima) hope your first day went ok? Today I ate "normally" but much better than usual. heres hoping x see you on the other forums no doubt.
Hi Sunflower

We started on the same day. I enjoyed m first day and seemed to get through it no bother.
When is your second day - tomorrow? I'm thinking of tomorrow. No idea what to have for dinner though. Need inspiration.

Good luck with day 2!

X
Hi chickadee - No, I'm meeting someone for lunch today - so will go for tomorrow.

I'll be at home with lots of jobs to do, so will keep busy. I had read that it is good for your body health wise if you can go for 16 hours before eating anything apart from drinks. So tonight I will have last meal by 8pm - and try and make it high protein, low carb, and then not eat Friday until 12 noon.

It wasn't hard like I expected, great isn't it - hope it's always that easy!

I am a veggie, so a friend gave me WW recipe for veg chilli (quorn)which I have with no rice but loads of green veg and carrots etc for evening.

For lunch I might get a tub of cottage cheese with carrot and celery sticks.

I drink hot lemon with Robinsons lemons squash no sugar, and also I love the Marigold bouillon, you make a cup of clear veg stock and it is very nice (to me anyway) and about 10 cals.

good luck today - let me know how you get on x
How about having Cauliflower Rice with the chilli?? About 50kcal is you use a medium cauliflower to make 4 portions.

Thanks Lucky - looks interesting, but unfortunately I don't have a food processor, so bit of a faff grating it all. Thanks for link, will explore it more.
Hi guys

It was my first day today too! I found it surprisingly manageable! I didn't have anything until 3 pm this afternoon when I ate some strawberries. I then cooked a dinner of 'home made pizza' (a tortilla, tomato puree and plenty of roasted veg). I then ate my 'breakfast' which I skipped this morning as my 'dessert' after dinner! Drank loads of water throughout the day and loving it really!

Only thing now is I have woken my stomach up a little bit...it's shouting at me for more food! But I'm not giving in.

Interestingly, I was making my lunch to take to work tomorrow (a non fasting day) and the thought of a sandwich with chicken/bacon/mayo etc etc was horrible! I ended up steaming some salmon with some roast veg....it's funny how being good makes you want to maintain being good! Don't get me wrong, I am really looking forward to a chocolate bar tomorrow, but in terms of meals I definitely want to be healthier!
Hi Naomi well done getting thro your first day, I'm going to do my second tomorrow. I won't start to eat until at least 1pm, as you say, once you start its harder.

I found I got some hunger pangs, which normally I never ever get. It nearly made me eat, but the feeling went after a little while. Got to get used to thinking *thats' a sign I'm losing weight" and accepting it.

I've gone on my fitness pal to log what I eat each day.

Good luck, and enjoy your food tomorrow.
Hi
Thanks for the posts sunflowersuffolk. This is my first week too. I've lost 3 pounds so far and like the fact that I don't have to think about food for two days a week. I've done diets before and am weary of counting and cooking and preparing in advance. This is so simple. I go on holiday soon and am hoping I can stick to the strategy of 2:5 while away. If anyone has any helpful suggestions I would be grateful for them.
Sounds like you're doing fine. I hadn't thought of drinking bouillon. What a good idea. I love fish so my main meal on a fast day is fish and veg. Easy to cook and I don't have to repare much. I'm 60 soon and looking forward to giving up work. I am attracted by the health benefits of this way of eating as much as the weight loss. It's great to chat.

Now on day 2 and coping, also doing the Sleepio course for Insomnia so juggling between all sorts of information plus still reading and soaking up both the Fast Diet and the 2 Day Diet, this forum supporting the Fast Diet, has the edge mainly because of forum members support.I had a Mastectomy, Chemo and Radiotherapy for Breast Cancer found on my 77th birthday and now on long term treatment Femara, the side effects of this drug is weight gain and joint pain,I have both.Determined to shift the pounds this disease has given me which I am sure will also help with joint pains!
