Introduce Yourself!

Our Frequently Asked Questions topic will answer many of your fasting & weight loss questions!

If you're new and have a question or need some advice, please give us as much information as you can about your situation in order for us to be able to help you as best we can. For example, it's helpful to know your BMI/weight, how much you want to lose, any medical conditions which might affect your weight and (if you've started fasting already) how you do your fasts in terms of splitting up your calories, what you eat etc. Thanks!

I'm new!

Hi, just thought I'd introduce myself. I'm 25 and started the 5:2 three weeks ago but went on holiday last week so am starting again (it was a skiing holiday and I can't say no to french food and wine!).

I'm hoping to lose about a stone, but am a bit nervous as I've never been successful whenever I've tried to lose weight before. Here's hoping this works!

As I'm not doing the fasting with anyone else I'm hoping the forum will give me the kick up the backside I'll need when I think about giving up! So far I've found it ok, I'm on a fast day today and drinking heaps of earl grey tea (no milk/sugar) and water.

So that's me! Hopefully looking forward to some good results!

Hi - I'm new to 5:2 too, today is my first day of fasting. I am a bit apprehensive as I don't usually cope with hunger very well - at the first sign of a hunger pang I head for the kitchen (which is why I struggle with my weight)
I'm very interested to see the results on the scales in the next few weeks.
Until then, lots of fluids and keeping busy!

Good luck with it and I'm sure you will see good results. You might need a bit of backside kicking after a few fast days when the novelty has worn off but fasting hasn't become habit forming yet - it will pass. It's much easier to handle a craving if you tell yourself you can have it tomorrow...!

Thank you! First fast day went well - and I'm surprisingly not eating more than usual today!

I've seen you on the telly. You don't look like you need to lose a stone to me. Oh and please don't set your dragons on me! I pledge my allegiance to the true heir to the seven kingdoms!

In all seriousness, welcome! I wish you all the best. It's really not hard when you get used to it and I think that it's a game-changer in terms of being a lifestyle that it's easy to stick to long term.
