When is best to weigh?

I'm impatient, and Have been weighing myself daily! It's my first week so I'm looking forward to results!

Do you count your loss for a full week or after your last fast? I started Monday, fasting Monday and Thursday

My fast days are on Tuesdays and Fridays, I tend to weigh myself the morning of my second day, so every Friday morning basically, weekly.

Hi Sambrydon,
I am soooo with you there!
I started on Monday and have watched the scales fluctuate every day but kind of wish that I hadn't now.
I had my second fast day yesterday and got weighed again this morning. It showed I had lost 7lb since my Monday morning start weigh-in, and the disappointing thing is that even though any weight loss is good, I know that it will be less than 7lb by the time Monday morning comes around again!
Every day weighing gives you a false perspective on the overall plan and may make you feel disheartened. So, I am not going to weigh myself untill Monday morning now and stick to just the one weigh-in a week in future.
:)

I do not think so that there is any particular time or day to weight. Well, it would be a good practice to weight once in a month. So that you can come to know how much you have gained or reduced in a month.

Here is an earlier topic about this. And here. And here.

I always weigh on the morning after my 2nd fast day, before breakfast and after any, er, motions, because that gives the best result. The disadvantage with this is that it is not realistic for where my weight would be if I was not fasting, in fact the difference within a week can be up to 2 kg. Still it's what I've always done.

If you like to micro-manage things and you are prepared for the rollercoaster, you can weigh daily. If so, do record your weight in the Progress Tracker here, it will look like a rollercoaster too but over time the peaks and the troughs will get lower.

Most important thing is to realise that this is not a fast-loss diet it is a way of life and weight loss averages about 1 lb / week or a bit less in the medium/long term. And in fact waist loss is more important for health than weight loss so do measure that too!

I did exactly the same as you when I began, weighing every day. After a couple of weeks though I stopped doing this as fluctuating by up to 4 lbs each day was unsettling. I did it just to see if it was working and if I was going mad eating too much on non fast days.

I'm now into my 12th week and the need to do a daily weigh has left me, and I now weigh on a Tuesday morning, the day after my first fast of the week. Like others say, there's no right or wrong way and you've got to choose the best way for you.

Good luck.

Before I started 5:2 my weigh day was always Monday morning. When I started 5:2 my fast days are Monday & Thursday I started having two weigh days my "official" Monday and then Friday, The fluctuation was so great between the two that about 3 weeks ago I ditched Monday and "official " day is now Friday. Good luck on your journey :clover:

If you are weighing daily why not consider using something like the Libra App that kencc uses? Plot your daily weight and it puts a trend line on the graph, smoothing out the fluctuations. Oh, and as Dom says, remember to put your stats into the Progress Tracker ;)

I do not have easy access to the scales and so plan to weigh once a month. As for waist measurements, some days I have a nice flat tummy and on others it is definitely round! Rather than measure my vital statistics I am going by how I feel in my current clothes and they all feel much looser, so that's good enough for me at this early stage (only on 3rd fast)
