For me the only bad side-effect of 5:2 has been feeling cold on fast days. Lots of layers and moving about is the best advice I can give for keeping warm!

Hot drinks certainly does help through the transition period into this regime...and a sweater haha.

Hopefully it's just the weather that's intensifying your chills

Hi Helen, I've heard quite a few people mention the cold and I have to say I've not felt the cold this much before, low temp outside of course but even so I'm looking forward to Spring.
Just as a p.s being a lady of a certain age, I have'nt had a hot flush for about seven days now they would certainly be welcome while waiting at the bus stop :)

i can put up with feeling cold as i'm happy with the way this diet is working for me.....maybe it also helps with the menopause...now that would be interesting.....before i get there.

I always feel cold on fast days, as do many people it seems.

I tend to fast when I am working from home so just turn the heating up and have lots of hot drinks (black coffee, fruit tea and cuppa soups!)

I was also very chilly last fast day & had to resort to getting warm by exercising! By which I mean doing lots of ironing ha ha. But I also did some salsacice & that did warm me up very well.

I started the 5:2 last week but have been following a really 'clean' vegan, wheat and sugar free diet since New Year. Interesting thing I have noticed since New Year on the menopause front is that I have gone from being perimenopausal - periods about every 3 months or so (yippee!! It's great!!) to having a period every 3-4 weeks. Can healthy eating reverse the menopause? Does anyone know? Is it to do with the way central fat produces oestrogen?? I know it is probably a good thing but must confess to feeling a bit grumpy about it - thought I was nearly free of 'the curse' lol
