Guilt free?
22 Feb 2013, 18:39
I'm new to the forum....so hi to everyone
Now on my 2nd week (had my 4th fast day yesterday)
Today (a feed day) I had an early meeting so up at 6a.m.
We got our first break at 10 o clock...served tea/coffee scones jam and cream...
Yep I had a scone and cream!!!!! but much much more than that....... I ate it without spending the rest of today beating myself up!!!!
So thank you 5:2 for allowing me to take control of my health and weight and to do it without the constant guilt that I have felt while on other so called 'healthy eating/fad diets' as I yo-yoed for the last 10 years......Im feeling good...loosing weight ....and GUILT FREE!!! :D

Go you Virginia. That feeling for me is like a "get out of jail free" card! I'm as good as gold on my fast days and on my feed days, I relax. Like you, if I want it, I have it. Last night we went out for curry and when we came home we shared a bag of Haribo's! No guilt, no worry either as I know I have been good on my fast days. Keep going and keep enjoying it. It gets better:-)

That is one of the main reasons I wanted to try this diet, to be guilt free is like a massive weight has been lifted excuse the pun!.

Totally agree with all of you regarding the guilt free eating.

I wish I could say the same but I'm struggling with that mindset. After years of yo-yo dieting and more recently counting calories a lot I still feel guilty when I over-indulge. It doesn't stop me from doing it, but I still feel bad! Tonight my children are sleeping over at my Mum's house so my OH and I got a big takeaway curry and watched Skyfall and shared a large bag of Revels. Lovely treat but now I'm worried that I have just ruined my fast days for this week as my weigh in is tomorrow...

Sorry for my self-indulgent guilt induced whine last night! I did my weigh in as normal this morning and I have still lost 1lb despite my blow out. I am relieved and each time I lose weight it gives me renewed enthusiasm for this WOL and less guilt. I think this could be good for me :-)

Hi everyone...Jenny Im new to this too...only finished week 2 .....but am determined to look at it as a new life style and not yet another of my failed fad diets!!!!....Ive spent a life time(Im 57) yo yoing with my weight....and beating myself up...well no more!!! ....I am point blankly refusing to have one more item of over priced synthetic 'diet food' in my home...I've paid more money to be weighed once a week and in diet products than I dare to think about...think I've practically held up the multi billion diet industry on my own lol....but from here on in I will fast for 2 days and eat healthy 'normal' foods the rest of the week....and if I do have a blow out now and again fine it just means my body will need my next fast day to repair itself and rest even more?.....so big hug and congrats on your 1lb off this week....

I have just eaten a cream slice without any guilty feelings because I made a conscious choice to do so! & it was very enjoyable. I also had lunch in my favourite bistro which was vichyssoise soup, French bread & butter! for supper is one of the M&S meal deals with wine & a pudding. This way of eating is enabling me to try & establish a new relationship with food to getting back to how I ate as a child which was eating more simple food but also having guilt free enjoyment. I will weigh myself tomorrow so I will find out if I have managed to keep to losing weight every week since Christmas, so far 11lbs. Not a huge amount but I continue to go downwards rather than upwards & hope to continue doing so with 5:2 :D

Great Isis!!! That is exactly what I want too .. a life where food is my friend not a constant guilt ridden battle!!...I have counted calories...points ...sins...eaten soups, shakes ,low fat, low carb....you name it...Ive tried it and not lost 11 lbs in 8 weeks!!! and each and every day felt guilty if I as much as looked at anything with a calorie in it!...so well done you :D :D

This is the best thing about this WOE, as long as you stick to the 500 calories on fast days it really seems you can eat anything on 'feast' days and you still lose weight! I love it!

Looking forward to weigh in tomorrow morning (who ever thought we would look forward to that!) I am hoping for another pound off this week - would rather loose slowly and keep it off which is what I plan to do my sticking to this WOE indefinitely!

I went to my nephews birthday party today - he was four - and tucked into the party food and cake without a worry!

To everyone not fasting today - enjoy what you are eating!

I'm still really struggling with the non fast days ...been a serial dieter with the same stone off on off on for the last 15 years! I can't seem to relax and get the right mindset to be comfortable with food I still have the "can't have that" mentality and keep filling in my tracker and trying to keep to my number of points on non fast days .... Suggestions on how to overcome very welcome ?
