dukan - fast diet
22 Feb 2013, 21:45
about 3 yrs ago I lost 4 stone on the dukan diet however over time ive put some back on! it was a stone and a half but have lost a half stone by trying to follow it again although not as strict! I heard about this diet and thought wld give it a try but am worried that after all these years of watching carbs n not eating bread, pasta etc. that I am going to gain weight! I notice in a post tgat mimi says to eat like u have been eating on ur non fast days but that's my whole point in trying this..fed up not allowing myself carbs so bit confused as to what to do! :?

Just a quick idea if you are worried. Don't do it one go, add back the carbs slowly over a period of weeks until you are back to 'normal'.

I think when you exclude things from you diet if you can reintroduce them slowly one at a time then you become aware of what makes you fell yukky. I've only been 5:2ing since the new year but I'm learning to listen to my body and at the moment my body is telling me to limit the amount of dairy I give it. Just one bit of advise about 5:2ing - you need to give it a month before your body gets into the swing of things.

How are you getting on Elay?
I feel the same about naughty carbs as I lost 8kg on Dukan last year and then gained 6 back as I am just greedy and love food ;-)
One of the big attractions about 5:2 for me is that I don't have to deprive myself completely of carbs - am having toast and jam as I write this ( non fast day) - but I only started yesterday with a fast day so we'll see how I go!
I'm not expecting such rapid weight loss as Dukan but I think it will be much more sustainable ( and cheaper!!)

I'm also an ex-Dukan dieter. I did it 2 years ago and lost 2 1/2 stone and have maintained that with the maintenance plan, although I could drop another 5lb to be what I regard as my ideal weight.
But I have got a little bored with no carb regime, I watched the Horizon prog and have decided to give this a go, today is my 1st fast day.

Bailbray - congrats on keeping Dukan weight off with maintenance! Wish I had... I agree that this program looks less boring.
