:?Hi. I started the Fast Diet on Monday 18 February. I want to lose over a stone in weight. For three years I have been stuck at 10st 7lbs - with the occasional rise of 2lbs after holidays and Christmas - but nothing has made me lose weight. After my first day of the Fast I lost 2lbs but after fasting on Wednesday and eating normally for two days I have gone back to my normal weight. Is this usual? From reading the book I see I am supposed to weigh the day after a fast - what are other people's experiences?
There's absolutely no point in weighing yourself more than once a week. Fluid changes in the body can mean your weight may fluctuate by 2lbs a day. For a more accurate idea of your progress you should weigh yourself monthly. Personally I can't wait that long so I weigh myself weekly. As long as you do it on the same day/time each week that should be OK.
You could try measuring yourself too. Sometimes you may lose very little weight, yet clothes may fit better.

Also with you being a pretty healthy weight already, any loss is going to come slower.

As for weighing after a fast day, personally mine change every week anyway. So I just stick to weighing in on a Monday morning. I know other people find it easier to stick to specific days every week for fasting. It all comes down to what suits YOU!
It is a lovely psychological boost to step on the scales the morning after a fast day & see ones weight reduce :D However it will not give a true picture because it then becomes an eating day & usually weight will increase. I have found weighing myself on the same day is best that is two days after a fast day. I have chosen Sunday to weigh just after getting up & going to the loo! & my fast days are usually Monday & Friday. Taking your waist measurement is also helpful because you can stay the same weight but have lost inches. But probably most importantly for a more accurate picture is to choose the same time & day to weigh yourself weekly or monthly for a better overview.
Good luck.
I also weigh on a Sunday morning and I fast Monday and Thursday. I now look forward getting up on a Sunday and seeing what the scales have to say - who would have thought that weighing would become something to look forward to!!
Good luck to everyone weighing on Sunday morning!
Thanks for all the replies to my posts. I have decided to weigh myself every Thursday morning, the second day after fasting. I know this is artifically low but I measured my waist and found I have already lost one and a half inches. Trousers are starting to feel lose and someone at work thought I had lost weight. After only three weeks I have lost 5lbs. I am telling everyone about it. By the way, an Uncle of someone I work with was told by his cardiologist to do the 5:2 Diet. I am motivated to carry on and hope it continues.
