DH told me about this back in August 2012 having watched the Horizon documentary. (He is the same size and weighs pretty much the same weight as he was when I met him 24 years ago!! I weighed more than him - this caused him great angst!) Then it was featured in "The Times". Still I didn't jump on board; never in the "right frame of mind". Then in Jan had to have a colonoscopy - not half as bad as expected and fortunately I am very healthy it seems!!
This was my kick start - since my colonic "cleansing" I have followed the 5:2 diet with great success. Am back in the gym a couple of times a week (had become a couch potato) and feel very positive about everything.
One glitch is my 18 year old son is heavily into baking so today (non-fasting) have had two chocolate brownies plus a slice of lemon drizzle cake. I feel a tad guilty but tell myself I'll be fasting again Monday so can rectify any damage done!
I work shifts; I find it easy to fast whilst working but on those days eat porridge for breakfast with skimmed milk and have soup for lunch. Then typically smoked salmon and salad in the evening. However, if not working, I have late lunch then evening meal. Tend not to eat too many carbs when fasting.
Some of my colleagues have now joined me - like many people I feel evangelical and can't wait for the day when I'm wearing size 10/12 clothes again (had gone up to size 16 - now wearing 14s and 16s)
