Hi l am new and started 5.2 last week and lost 5lb, very happy with that, am just on 2nd week and doing a fasting day, do you think its ok to break my 500 calories down to 4 snack to get me though the day??? I know we have to find out what is best for us but just wondered if anybody had success that way?? thanks :P
Hi Jojo

Well done on your weight loss :-) I'm new too so will be interested to hear if others are having success with 4 small meals.

From reading the book it seems that leaving a big gap between eating is best but one of the authors had success spreading the 500 cals over 3 eats (can't really call an apple a meal!) I think the gap was mainly for the health benefits though - I'm sure you'll lose weight ok spreading it out over more meals. Although it might actually make you more hungry than if you had 1 or 2 fairly decent meals.
You *can* do it, but I don't advise it. I personally find that if I eat during the day, the hunger is harder to control.

I have found it's actually easiest to just not eat during the day. I have black coffee, herbal tea, and plenty of water. In the late afternoon, if I am getting hungry, I might have a mug or two of chicken bouillon (10 cals each).

By saving most of my calories for the evening meal, I'm able to have a lovely dinner with my family, and I'm happy and satisfied all evening with minimal hunger pangs during the day. I don't usually go to bed hungry - I really don't like going to bed hungry!
Hi jojo
Im new too...just starting my 3rd week =5th fast today
I have always (well last 4 fasts!) split my 500kcal in 2 ...lunch and dinner but today just due to work load I didnt get time to eat lunch so just thought 'wot the heck' and saved everything for dinner tonight. I honestly found that I wasnt any more hungry by dinner time and had 500kcal to play with!!!! I had a lovely meal and feel so full !!! Think that is what I will try again on Thursday and see how it goes!
Hi
I find I must have breakfast. I have 50g porridge oats made up with boiling water 185kcal. If I don`t I start to feel sick and shake. I then manage to go till about 6.30 by drinking fruit tea and water. If I need to I have an apple in the afternoon.
I get by with trying to go "another hour" and drinking a glass of water. This usually helps.
It really is all about finding the best way for you.
I am on my 8th week of 5:2. Fasted today.
Good luck to all who are new.
Thanks to everybody for your replies.
I think l will finish this week on my 4 small meals & next week try the one meal of 500 calories and see if l can manage all day and how the weight loss is as well. Am intrigued to see if l can go all day until my evening meal.
This is a great site...good luck to all of you!!! xx
