Introduce Yourself!

Our Frequently Asked Questions topic will answer many of your fasting & weight loss questions!

If you're new and have a question or need some advice, please give us as much information as you can about your situation in order for us to be able to help you as best we can. For example, it's helpful to know your BMI/weight, how much you want to lose, any medical conditions which might affect your weight and (if you've started fasting already) how you do your fasts in terms of splitting up your calories, what you eat etc. Thanks!

A Noobie!

Hello! As you can see, I am new here! My boyfriend and I just watched "Eat, Fast, and Live Longer." We were both sold and this is our first day fasting. We are both quite pepped up to becoming more healthy =). It's also nice to find forums to research and find any other information that may be out there.

Looking forward to seeing results and making connections with others out there who seek health.

Hello, Moogie! And thank you for the warm welcome! ^_^. I'll be happy to share how I found you! I was researching and come across this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/5:2_diet. These forums are listed as a reference.

Being so new, I am relieved at the help offered! I'm really thankful for these forums. As it is my first fast day, it's really a difficult first step. But we're both determined. And since my boyfriend and I are following this together, we can support each other. But it's always incredibly helpful to follow those who have been at it longer, of course. Sharing the wisdom =).

Hi, I'm new too. Have been doing the 5:2 for about 10 weeks, its going really well, I've lost a little weight, but had previously been to a slimming class and lost 12lbs, have got about 7lbs to get to my goal.
This is much more than weight loss, I already feel healthier, my skin is clearer, when I am premenstrual I def don't retain as much fluid as before.
I'm so glad to have found this site, which was through Google, its motivating on fast days and I no longer feel alone.

Hi Nibbit,
I'm relatively new too - a few weeks. I have found this forum very useful and inspiring, thanks everyone! I lost some weight with a slimming class but got stuck; my weight loss plateaued and I became disillusioned. I have become much more motivated since starting 5:2 and I'm pleased I have started losing weight again. I get a lot of encouragement from the forum and I hope you and your boyfriend do too. Once established, fast days do get easier. Best wishes.

I too am new. I saw Michael Mosley on Good Morning America last Thursday and decided that this was the diet for me. I plan to fast Mon/Thurs. I usually have trouble sticking to diets but even I can do it for 2 days a week. I'm from Barrie Ontario Canada and hopefully some of my fellow Canadians will join soon.

Hello! I've been doing this eating plan for 7 weeks now, and am really happy with it. I'd already been using My Fitness Pal for about 2 eyars, so it's pretty starightforward to keep on using it for calorie counting. I like making gourmet meals within my calorie allowance, and love using things like samphire, caviar, anchovies etc!

Dr. Michael Mosley's book just arrived through my mail-slot! I will start reading it as soon as possible. I thumbed through it and it looks very interesting. I can't wait to delve into it :geek: .

Hope everyone elses journey is going awesome :victory: !

After our first fast day, I felt fantastic! Full of energy. . I think Friday will be my next fast day. (Though we've taken to calling fast days "rest days".)
