First Day of Diet Today
04 Mar 2013, 09:27
First day of the diet today! Yay! very motivated as just booked a holiday for May and I want to look a bit better than I do now.
Ate a roast chicken dinner last night, lots of veg, 1 less roast potato than normal and NO wine :o Shock horror!
This morning I had 2 cups of lemon and ginger tea - no milk, and will hope to fast until about 7pm tonight just drinking water and more tea.
Have taken some vital measurements and am just about to go out to buy some new scales! EEEEK!
I am a typical apple shape - slim legs and hips, large boobs and my biggest area of concern = my stomach, especially just below my rib cage.
At some point today I will spend some time on the rower, but in general just trying to keep busy as I have no work today!
Here goes......

Hi Loubelia, it sounds like we have the same body shape - I'm a typical apple too. My tummy makes me look pregnant I swear! It's also the most dangerous place to store your fat in terms of health risks so well done to us for doing something aboout it. Good luck with your first fast!

Hi Loubelia and everyone else fasting (or repairing) today ... I am new to this way of eating AND to forums also (found it whilst researching Fast For Life after borrowing book from friend who has achieved weight loss and great benefits from it). This is my 3rd 'fast day' - the greatest thing about this regime is that however bad your cravings are, or how you feel, it is only for ONE DAY AT A TIME! When embarking on other diets or eating regimes it feels like the start of a massive marathon and every backward step breeds guilt and feelings of failure. The psychological benefit of only having to manage one day at a time is so amazingly different and makes it all seem so much more manageable. Have already lost 1" from waist and 1.5 kilos and this is whilst enjoying life on the non-fast days - eating normally and enjoying wine without beating myself up. So sending best wishes to everyone and huge thanks to Dr. Mosley for spreading the word about what I hope will be a new way of life for many people who have struggled with their relationship with their bodies and food..... may the force, and not the fat, be with you!

Just about the end of my first fasting day! Not really a problem , drank loads of water and herbal teas and had my first food at 7pm. bowl full of veg - broccoli, cauli, green beans, carrots and peas with some instant gravy granules and mint sauce. Delicious and very filling, had an apple about an hour later. Total is 330-400 cal by my reckoning!
30 minutes on the Concept 2 rower and soon to bed me thinks!
Secret for me was to keep busy so as not to think about food. Look forward to Thursday for my next fasting day! :victory:

Congrats on a successful first day, Loubelia! I'm also hoping to lose a bit of weight by May. We can do this!

And Travellinghopefully, I really appreciated reading your post. I am 1/2 through my first fasting day, and you are right: The idea of being able to eat normally tomorrow is the only thing that's making this possible! I am definitely a little uncomfortable, but I know I can do it!!! It's great to hear that you're off to a good start. Best wishes, Liz
