First Day
04 Mar 2013, 20:59
Hello,

This is my first day on the Fast Diet. I'm fasting today, and so far, so good. :) I've had herbal team a 0% yogurt and an apple, and not sure what'll be for dinner yet.

I'm in the U.S., by the way.

I have about 10-15 pounds to lose, and I feel that my body is reacting very differently to efforts to lose weight than it has in the past. It's much harder to lose and my weight is accumulating around my middle.

Anyway, wish me luck?

Thanks,

Lauren

Welcome and good luck!! Yeah, I think it's called getting older ;-) When I was 16 it wasn't nearly this hard!

Welcome Lauren to the Fast Diet and to the forum! Let us know how you get on. Lots of good tips here and support if you need it. The first four weeks are the hardest, just get through those and you will be coasting. Oh, and put your numbers into the Progress Tracker, you'll get a pretty chart and you are contributing to the overall forum stats.

Hi there,

This is also my first day and I'min America as well! I have not eaten any solid food today so far. Had coffee this morning and have been surprisingly well with just green tea the rest of the day. I plan on a small bit for dinner. Was thinking maybe beans and veggies or salad with beans to help me be able to sleep tonight. I'm so very excited that this might work for me. How fast do you all notice results with this diet?

My first day also. I just bought the book and it sounds too good to be true. I ate nothing today, but I feel great. I just think about how bad I felt the last time I over ate.

Hi jjmay & StuPedaso, welcome indeed to you too and to any and all American newcomers to this lifestyle, I think you will find there will be a lot more of you around here over the coming weeks and months!

Most people see results in terms of weight loss almost immediately i.e. in week 1, although in a minority of cases the losses can be masked by other effects (water retention, time of month, natural daily variation). To be honest the same can be said of all diets. What is different about the fast diet is that it is easy to sustain (it gets easier in fact, whereas most diets get harder), so that you can keep on losing weight.

I am nearly at the stage of reaching my target weight so I will then need to adapt it to maintain instead of lose weight, but because of the serious health benefits from this diet (as well as not wanting to put the weight back on) I want to find a way to keep intermittent fasting rather than go back to the bad old ways!

Many of us like you have found it easiest to eat nothing in the daytime and keep our calorie allowance until evening - this is probably also the healthiest way too.

From my own experience I would say be careful when you start eating carbs again, especially the simple ones (sugars) - this is when a binge can be triggered. Trying to avoid those moments has changed my non-fasting day diet too - in a good way...
