The FastDay Forum

Introduce Yourself!

Our Frequently Asked Questions topic will answer many of your fasting & weight loss questions!

If you're new and have a question or need some advice, please give us as much information as you can about your situation in order for us to be able to help you as best we can. For example, it's helpful to know your BMI/weight, how much you want to lose, any medical conditions which might affect your weight and (if you've started fasting already) how you do your fasts in terms of splitting up your calories, what you eat etc. Thanks!

Hi, I'm a new member, originally from the USA, but currently residing in the Middle East. I'm a stay-at-home wife, and have found myself eating nearly all the time, and when you're a short person, that just doesn't work out well. :-?

Yesterday I finished reading the book, and today I'm having my first official fast day. I have fasted in the past, for religious purposes, so I knew what to expect. I also appreciate the work of Dr. Fuhrman in the book Eat to Live; personally I think it's the best way to eat, but what I know and practice are two VERY different things. I'm really hoping that the 5:2 way of eating will help me reset my appetite controls and then make good decisions about what I actually do eat. And of course, I would also like to lose some weight (actually a lot of weight).

I'm looking forward to learning more from all of you.
May you have many blessings on your journey!

Welcome! Yes, I too know the dangers of being at home all day with a well-stocked kitchen. ;-)

I find the forums here to be so invaluable for keeping up my resolve on fast days. I've been doing this for two months, and while I'm still having treats, I find I have a much better relationship with food now on my feast days. And I've been losing about a pound a week on average :-)

Good luck!
