Happy Newbie
06 Mar 2013, 15:00
Hi All, I started on the 5:2 diet now for just over a week and at first weigh in have lost 3lbs so I am one happy bunny. I feel really motivated and keen to see what I can achieve. Maybe, at last, I have found the way forward to a happier, healthier me!

Wow Madmoo that is inspiring! I haven't even started yet but if i am even 1.5lbs down this time next week i'd be delighted. Any tips/tricks for your first week started?

Hi Mazzimaz, I do both my fast days during the week when Im in work (Tues & Thurs) as I dont get time to think about eating and there are no temptations - well apart from the biscuit container and the charity sweet box but good old Will Power has kept me on the straight and narrow! Today I had a banana for breakfast, slim a soup for lunch and a Morrisons ready meal for tea. As I fast Tues & Thurs I am going to start weighing on Friday morning first thing (as this is what it suggests in the book). Im feeling really inspired to crack on with this x

Yep - i'm relying on good old will power too, i'm trying to treat this as a challenge too as my competitive streak tends to work best!
I have read loads of the book last night and decided rather than wait until Monday for my first fast (which could then cause me to over indulge this weekend as a last huraah!) i have decided to fast today. I was hungry when i went to bed last night so thought today would be a struggle but so far the hunger pangs have just been coming and going, like the book says! Had a crackerbread with my coffee this morning and having miso soup and a banana for lunch then hopefully more salmon and veg for dinner tonight!
Think I will try Monday and a Thursday, then a weigh in on a Friday! Scared for tonight though, my usual Friday night wine, crisps and a big old dinner is out the window!

Good Luck with it Mazzimaz. I can only say positive things about this so far. Been on it 1 week and 3 days and 6lbs down! Would never have done that much on other diets. I realise it wont stay at losses that high but its been a very motivating start for me. I also see it as a challenge. Im 43 in July and dont want to be overweight for another birthday. Am also on holiday in August and am determined to be happy in my summer clothes instead of the fat flump! Let me know how your fasting goes. x
