I saw the bit about about The Fast Diet on ABC news. It sounded intriguing so I downloaded the book from Barnes & Noble rather than wait a month to get it from the library.

I started my first fast today. Being 67, short and female, I will be calculating calories so I don't go over my TDEE on the 5 days I eat normally. I have either been on a diet or off for my whole life. I need to practice eating at a maintenance level, a big appeal of The Fast Diet.

Hi Cat & welcome!

So many of us here have yoyo dieted all our lives :( This way of eating seems so different - and so easy! - that I for one feel I could keep at it forever.

Do let us know how you get on won't you? :)

I saw the ABC show too! I did exactly the same thing. Downloaded the kindle book to my iPhone and stocked up on veges in my frig right away.

Happy to say. I finished my first fast this morning. Am pleased to report that it wasn't that hard. I had made plans in advance. I filled my day with activities so I didn't think about it constantly. I had Fat Free Greek Yogurt with Blueberries, and a small pear for breakfast (11am) plenty of coffee, chicken broth, herb tea throughout the day. I did have a couple of snacks during the early evening of petite carrots, celery, sugar snap peas. At Dinner I prepared the chicken stir-fry. (9pm) We are traditionally late eaters so this worked beautifully. I normally drink a couple glasses of wine in the evening but substituted Mineral Water w/lemon, and a squirt of 0 cal MiO Liquid. The absence of the wine was the worst experience of the day for me, but was able to get through it without too much problem. Great Plan!

Thank you all for the kind welcome.

I finished my first fast day yesterday. I waited until 11 am for meal one. Had some leftover chili and 1/2 a grapefruit. Dinner was 6:30 pm with mahi mahi, broccolini and a lettuce salad with homemade low fat dressing. I was hungry during the day, but was quite content after dinner.

I am pretty sedentary now. I had cataract surgery Tuesday on my left eye, right eye will be done March 19th. My weight loss will be slower until I get back to my usual activities near the end of March. I needed something like the Fast Diet at this time to avoid gaining weight during this period. The fact that I will be establishing new eating habits is a real bonus.
